Our journey to Alicante was filled with excitement. Traveling with family always has its challenges, but it also multiplies the joy. When we first arrived at Muchavista, I was struck by its size. The beach stretched for more than six kilometers, wide and open, framed by golden sand and a horizon that seemed to go on forever. Unlike other beaches that feel crowded and hectic, Muchavista felt expansive and generous. There was always enough space to spread out our towels, set up an umbrella, and feel as if we had our own piece of paradise.

A nossa viagem a Alicante foi repleta de emoção. Viajar em família traz sempre desafios, mas também multiplica a alegria. Quando chegámos à Praia de Muchavista, fiquei impressionada com a sua dimensão. A praia estendia-se por mais de seis quilómetros, ampla e aberta, emoldurada por areia dourada e um horizonte que parecia infinito. Ao contrário de outras praias que parecem cheias e agitadas, Muchavista parecia ampla e generosa. Havia sempre espaço suficiente para estender as nossas toalhas, instalar um guarda-sol e sentir que tínhamos o nosso próprio pedaço de paraíso.

The first morning we stepped onto the sand, the sun was already shining brightly, but the light was soft, not harsh. The air carried the scent of salt mixed with the faint aroma of sunscreen, a combination that immediately told me, this is summer. It was the kind of atmosphere that makes you breathe a little deeper and slow down.

Na primeira manhã em que pisámos a areia, o sol já brilhava intensamente, mas a luz era suave, não forte. O ar transportava o cheiro do sal misturado com o leve aroma do protetor solar, uma combinação que me disse imediatamente, estamos no verão. Era o tipo de atmosfera que nos faz respirar um pouco mais fundo e abrandar.

The days we spent there were marked by magnificent sunshine. Every morning, we woke up, had a simple breakfast and walked down to the beach with minimal planning. That rhythm easy, unhurried became one of the highlights of our stay. There were no long lists of things to do, no schedules to follow. It was about being present.

Muchavista offered everything we needed. The sand was soft underfoot, warm but never scorching. The sea was calm, inviting and glimmered under the sunlight. I often found myself amazing just by watching the water move in gentle waves, reflecting the sky like a living painting.

The water itself was spectacular. Its temperature was perfect cool enough to refresh, warm enough to stay in for as long as you liked. I can still remember the sensation of diving into the sea and feeling instantly at peace. Unlike other places where the cold forces you back to shore quickly, here it felt natural to stay. Sometimes I would swim, other times I would simply float, letting the waves carry me. It was one of those rare experiences when you lose track of time because you are exactly where you want to be.

Os dias que lá passámos foram marcados por um sol magnífico. Todas as manhãs, acordávamos, tomávamos um pequeno-almoço simples e caminhávamos até à praia com o mínimo de planeamento. Este ritmo tranquilo, sem pressas tornou-se um dos pontos altos da nossa estadia. Não havia longas listas de coisas para fazer, nem cronogramas a cumprir. Tratava-se de estar presente.

Oferecia tudo o que precisávamos. A areia era macia debaixo dos pés, quente, mas nunca escaldante. O mar era calmo, convidativo e cintilava sob a luz do sol. Muitas vezes encantava-me apenas observando a água a mover-se em ondas suaves, refletindo o céu como uma pintura viva.

A água em si era espetacular. A temperatura era perfeita, fria o suficiente para me refrescar, quente o suficiente para ficar lá dentro o tempo que quisesse. Ainda me lembro da sensação de mergulhar no mar e sentir-me instantaneamente em paz. Ao contrário de outros locais onde o frio obriga a voltar rapidamente para a praia, aqui pareceu-nos natural ficar. Por vezes nadava, outras vezes simplesmente flutuava, deixando que as ondas me levassem. Foi uma daquelas raras experiências em que se perde a noção do tempo porque se está exatamente onde se quer estar.

What I loved most about Muchavista was the sense of escape. Even though Alicante city is close by, the beach felt far removed from the rush of daily life. There were no tall skyscrapers blocking the view, no endless traffic sounds, no overwhelming crowds. Just the sea, the sand, and the occasional laughter of children playing nearby.

For someone like me, who spends most of the year in front of screens, reviewing code, and managing projects, this was priceless. It was a reminder that life doesn't have to be filled with constant noise and pressure. Sometimes, all you need is a quiet place where the only schedule is the tide.

O que mais gostava em Muchavista era a sensação de fuga. Mesmo com a cidade de Alicante perto, a praia parecia longe da correria do dia-a-dia. Não havia arranha-céus a bloquear a vista, nem o barulho interminável do trânsito, nem multidões avassaladoras. Apenas o mar, a areia e as gargalhadas ocasionais das crianças que brincam nas proximidades.

Para alguém como eu, que passa a maior parte do ano em frente a ecrãs, a rever códigos e a gerir projetos, isto não tinha preço. Foi um lembrete de que a vida não tem de ser cheia de ruído e pressão constantes. Por vezes, tudo o que precisa é de um lugar tranquilo onde a única programação é a maré.

One of the most valuable parts of this trip was the way we disconnected from technology. Normally, I find myself constantly checking emails, messages and notifications. But in this vacations, I made a conscious decision to put the phone away. Most days, it stayed in the bag while we enjoyed the simple joys around us.

Instead of scrolling through endless feeds, I watched the horizon. Instead of replying to messages, I played with my son in the sand. Instead of checking the latest news, I listened to the sound of waves breaking softly on the shore. The absence of screens gave me something more important: presence.

Even meals felt different. Sitting at a beachside café, tasting fresh seafood, and watching the sun slowly sink into the horizon became a ritual. Those were the kind of moments that no app or social media post could ever replace.

Uma das partes mais valiosas desta viagem foi a forma como nos desligámos da tecnologia. Normalmente, apanho-me constantemente a verificar e-mails, mensagens e notificações. Mas nestas férias, tomei a decisão consciente de guardar o telemóvel. Na maioria dos dias, ficava na mala enquanto desfrutávamos das simples alegrias à nossa volta.

Em vez de percorrer feeds intermináveis, observei o horizonte. Em vez de responder a mensagens, brinquei com o meu filho na areia. Em vez de consultar as últimas notícias, ouvi o som das ondas a rebentarem suavemente na praia. A ausência de ecrãs deu-me algo mais importante: presença.

Até as refeições eram diferentes. Sentar-me num café à beira-mar, saborear marisco fresco e ver o sol a pôr-se lentamente no horizonte tornou-se um ritual. Estes eram o tipo de momentos que nenhuma aplicação ou publicação nas redes sociais poderia substituir.

Looking back now, I realize why Muchavista left such a deep impression. It was not about luxury resorts or complicated excursions. It was about the beauty of nature, the rhythm of the sea, and the quality of time spent together. It was about rediscovering the joy of slowing down and remembering that happiness often comes from the simplest things.

Olhando agora para trás, percebo porque é que Muchavista deixou uma impressão tão profunda. Não se tratava de resorts de luxo ou de excursões complexas. Tratava-se da beleza da natureza, do ritmo do mar e da qualidade do tempo que passamos juntos. Tratava-se de redescobrir a alegria de abrandar e de lembrar que a felicidade vem muitas vezes das coisas mais simples.
