Visit Spain - Platja del Carrer de la Mar

This summer, I had the opportunity to spend my holidays in Spain with my family. We chose the beautiful Alicante region as our base, a place full of sun, sea, and relaxing vibes. While we were there, we wanted to explore more than just the town we were staying in. One of the day trips we planned was to El Campello, a small town by the coast known for its relaxed atmosphere and beautiful beaches. The highlight of our trip that day was Platja del Carrer de la Mar, a beach that turned out to be one of our favorite spots of the entire holiday.

Este verão, tive a oportunidade de passar férias em Espanha com a minha família. Escolhemos como base a bela região de Alicante, um local cheio de sol, mar e uma atmosfera relaxante. Enquanto lá estivemos, quisemos explorar mais do que apenas a cidade onde estávamos hospedados. Um dos passeios que planeámos foi a El Campello, uma pequena cidade costeira conhecida pela sua atmosfera relaxante e pelas suas belas praias. O ponto alto da nossa viagem nesse dia foi a Platja del Carrer de la Mar, uma praia que acabou por se tornar um dos nossos locais favoritos de todas as férias.

We woke up early to make the most of the day. The sky was already bright and we could tell it was going to be another hot summer day. The forecast predicted around 33 ºC and we could definitely feel the heat as we prepared our beach bags. We packed towels, sunscreen, swimwear, hats and of course, bottles of water. Our kid was excited as we told them we were going on a small adventure by tram to discover a new beach.

Luckily, the public transportation system in Alicante is very reliable, and the Tram makes it super easy to visit towns along the coast. We walked to the nearest tram stop near our accommodation and waited just a few minutes before the next tram arrived.

Acordámos cedo para aproveitar o dia ao máximo. O céu já estava limpo e já sabíamos que seria mais um dia quente de verão. A previsão indicava cerca de 33°C, e já conseguíamos sentir o calor enquanto preparávamos as nossas malas de praia. Levamos toalhas, protetor solar, fatos de banho, chapéus e, claro, garrafas de água. O nosso filho ficou entusiasmado quando lhe dissemos que íamos fazer uma pequena aventura de elétrico para descobrir uma nova praia.

Felizmente, o sistema de transportes públicos em Alicante é muito fiável, e o Tram facilita muito a visita às cidades costeiras. Caminhámos até ao ponto de elétrico mais próximo, perto do nosso alojamento, e esperamos apenas alguns minutos até chegar o próximo elétrico.

What a view!!! The beach is long and wide, with golden sand that stretches for what looks like km. The Mediterranean sea was shining in front of us, in different shades of blue, from turquoise near the shore to deep blue further out. It was calm, without big waves and there were many families already there enjoying the sun.

We were immediately enchanted by the place. It looked exactly like the ideal beach you imagine when you think of summer holidays. The beach was very clean, well organized and had enough space for everyone even though it was a popular day.

Que vista!!! A praia é longa e ampla, com areia dourada que parece estender-se por quilómetros. O Mar Mediterrâneo brilhava à nossa frente, em diferentes tons de azul, desde o turquesa perto da costa até ao azul profundo mais ao longe. Estava calmo, sem ondas grandes, e já lá estavam muitas famílias a aproveitar o sol.

Ficámos imediatamente encantados com o local. Pareceu-me exatamente a praia ideal que imagina quando pensa em férias de verão. A praia estava muito limpa, bem organizada e tinha espaço suficiente para todos, mesmo sendo um dia movimentado.

Next to the beach is a lovely promenade, with tall palm trees offering some shade and a line of restaurants, cafés and bars. The whole area was lively and welcoming, with tourists and locals walking, eating, or relaxing by the sea.

Since the sun was getting stronger and we were feeling a bit tired from the walk, we decided to stop at one of the many cafés on the promenade. We found a nice one with outside seating and a view of the sea. It felt great to sit down and relax. My son immediately pointed at the ice cream section and we all agreed that ice cream was the perfect choice in that moment.

Junto à praia, existe um bonito passeio marítimo, com palmeiras altas a oferecer sombra e uma fileira de restaurantes, cafés e bares. Toda a área era animada e acolhedora, com turistas e locais a passear, comer ou relaxar à beira-mar.

Como o sol estava a ficar mais forte e estávamos um pouco cansados da caminhada, decidimos parar num dos muitos cafés do calçadão. Encontrámos um agradável com mesas ao ar livre e vista para o mar. Foi ótimo sentar e relaxar. Meu filho apontou imediatamente para a secção de gelados, e todos concordámos que o gelado era a escolha perfeita naquele momento.

One thing I loved was the mix of people. There were Spanish families with grandparents and kids, couples of all ages and tourists from all over Europe. Everyone was enjoying the same simple pleasures sunshine, sea breeze and good company.

Uma coisa que eu adorava era a mistura de pessoas. Havia famílias espanholas com avós e filhos, casais de todas as idades e turistas de toda a Europa. Todos desfrutavam dos mesmos prazeres simples: sol, brisa marítima e boa companhia.

The beach also had public showers and toilets, which were clean and easy to access. There were also lifeguards on duty, which gave us extra peace of mind. We didn't need to worry much about safety everything seemed well organized.

Nearby, we saw a few places renting umbrellas and sunbeds, though we preferred using our own beach gear. For families traveling with young children or elderly members, this kind of infrastructure is a big plus.

PT - Português 🇵🇹

A praia tinha ainda chuveiros e casas de banho públicas, limpas e de fácil acesso. Havia nadadores-salvadores de serviço, o que nos deu ainda mais tranquilidade. Não tivemos de nos preocupar muito com a segurança, tudo parecia bem organizado.

Nas proximidades, vimos alguns locais que alugavam guarda-sóis e espreguiçadeiras, embora preferíssemos usar o nosso próprio equipamento de praia. Para as famílias que viajam com crianças pequenas ou idosos, este tipo de infraestruturas é uma grande vantagem.

If we visit Alicante again, we'll definitely return to Platja del Carrer de la Mar. For anyone visiting the region, especially families, I highly recommend spending time in El Campello. It offers a different rhythm from the more tourist-heavy areas, and it is ideal for those looking for a genuine Mediterranean beach experience.

Se voltarmos a visitar Alicante, voltaremos certamente à Platja del Carrer de la Mar. Para quem visita a região, especialmente as famílias, recomendo vivamente que passem algum tempo em El Campello. Oferece um ritmo diferente das zonas mais turísticas e é ideal para quem procura uma experiência de praia genuinamente mediterrânica.
