Visit Portugal - Tâmega River Park

Some places have a quiet charm that makes you want to return again and again. On a mild spring day, with the sun peeking through soft clouds, I took a walk along the river in Sobretâmega.

There are places we return to, not because they are famous or filled with big attractions, but because they simply feel right. For me, that place is this Tâmega River Park. It's a peaceful riverside spot where I can breathe, reflect, and reconnect with the simplicity of nature.

Há lugares aos quais regressamos, não porque sejam famosos ou repletos de grandes atrações, mas porque simplesmente parecem certos. Para mim esse local é o Parque Fluvial do Tâmega. É um lugar tranquilo à beira-rio, onde posso respirar, refletir e reconectar-me com a simplicidade da natureza.

Last weekend, I visited again and what a beautiful day it was. The sun was out, shining gently between some clouds floating lazily in the sky. The kind of day that makes you want to leave everything behind and just walk beside the water. No big adventure just a quiet moment in a special place. But sometimes, thats all we need.

No passado fim de semana, voltei a visitar e que dia lindo que estava. O sol brilhava suavemente entre algumas nuvens que flutuavam preguiçosamente no céu. O tipo de dia que nos faz querer deixar tudo para trás e simplesmente caminhar à beira da água. Sem grandes aventuras, apenas um momento de tranquilidade num lugar especial. Mas, às vezes, é tudo o que precisamos.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived was the weather. It was a sunny day with some clouds, which is honestly my favourite kind of weather. The clouds gave the sky texture and movement, while the sun brought warmth and life to everything it touched.

There was a light breeze brushing through the trees. Spring was everywhere in the air, in the colours of the trees, and in the feeling of lightness that comes after a winter.

A primeira coisa que notei quando cheguei foi o tempo. Estava um dia ensolarado com algumas nuvens, o que é, honestamente, o meu tipo de tempo favorito. As nuvens davam textura e movimento ao céu, enquanto o sol trazia calor e vida a tudo o que tocava.

Havia uma brisa leve a passar pelas árvores. A primavera estava em todo o lado no ar, nas cores das árvores e na sensação de leveza que vem depois do inverno.

I saw the Park, the small marina with its little boats docked gently along the riverbank. Most of them were quiet, just swaying slightly with the motion of the water.

I paused there for a bit, letting the view sink in. The boats, the gentle splash of the water, the smell of river and earth. It was the kind of quiet that fills your heart.

Vi no parque, a pequena marina com os seus pequenos barcos atracados suavemente ao longo da margem do rio. A maioria delas era silenciosa, apenas balançando ligeiramente com o movimento da água.

Parei ali por momentos, deixando que a vista me assimilasse. Os barcos, o suave barulho da água, o cheiro do rio e da terra. Era o tipo de silêncio que enche o coração.

One of the most beautiful things about the Tâmega River on a day like this is how it reflects the sky.

As I stood by the waters edge, I noticed the reflections of the clouds moving slowly across the surface. It was like watching a movie in reverse, the sky below me instead of above. The river had become a mirror, and for a few moments, it felt like I was standing between two worlds.

Uma das coisas mais bonitas do Rio Tâmega num dia como este é a forma como reflete o céu.

Enquanto estava à beira da água, reparei no reflexo das nuvens a moverem-se lentamente na superfície. Era como ver um filme ao contrário, com o céu por baixo de mim em vez de por cima. O rio tornou-se um espelho e, por alguns momentos, senti-me como se estivesse entre dois mundos.

When the weather is sunny, and I have a little time to myself, I love coming to this spot. It’s not far from where I live, but it feels like a different world. A world without stress, without noise, without hurry.

I have been coming here for years now. Sometimes alone, sometimes with a family. Sometimes I bring a book, or just sit on a bench and watch the water go by.

Quando o tempo está sol e tenho um tempinho para mim, adoro vir a este lugar. Não é longe de onde vivo, mas parece um mundo diferente. Um mundo sem stress, sem barulho, sem pressas.

Já há anos que venho aqui. Ora sozinho, ora com a família. Às vezes levo um livro ou simplesmente sento-me num banco e observo a água a passar.

Spring brings a whole new personality to this place. The trees wear fresh green leaves, the grass is soft and full, and flowers bloom along the edges of the trail. The air smells clean and alive.

The colours of spring are different from summer. They are softer, more delicate. They feel like a beginning a quiet promise of warmer days ahead.

A primavera traz uma personalidade totalmente nova a este lugar. As árvores têm folhas verdes e frescas, a relva é macia e cheia, e as flores desabrocham ao longo das margens do trilho. O ar tem um cheiro limpo e vivo.

As cores da primavera são diferentes das do verão. São mais macios, mais delicados. Parecem um começo, uma promessa silenciosa de dias mais quentes pela frente.
