Visit Portugal - Cabo do Mundo Beach

It's been a while since I last wrote here. Life took an unexpected turn and I had to take a little break. I've been unwell for the past few weeks, and unfortunately, I wasn't able to go outside or do any of the things I usually enjoy. Staying home for so long wasn’t easy, especially when the weather started getting better and I could only watch the sunshine from my window.

But the good news is I've finally recovered! And to celebrate my return to normal life, I decided to go for a walk in one of my favourite places Cabo do Mundo Beach. This place always brings me peace and after being stuck indoors for so long.

Já passou algum tempo desde a última vez que aqui escrevi. A vida tomou um rumo inesperado e precisei de fazer uma pequena pausa. Não estou bem há algumas semanas e, infelizmente, não consegui sair nem fazer nada que normalmente gosto de fazer. Ficar tanto tempo em casa não foi fácil, principalmente quando o tempo começou a melhorar e só conseguia observar o sol da minha janela.

Mas a boa notícia é que finalmente recuperei! E para celebrar o meu regresso à vida normal, decidi dar um passeio num dos meus locais favoritos, a Praia do Cabo do Mundo. Este lugar traz-me sempre paz e, depois de estar preso dentro de casa durante tanto tempo.

The day started off beautifully. The sun was shining bright, filling the sky with a warm light. It wasn't too hot, just perfect. There was a gentle breeze in the air, not too strong, but enough to remind me that summer is still approaching. It is May, after all, but even in this early part of the season, the beach was already full of life. I wasn't the only one who felt the call of the ocean. There were families, couples, and groups of friends enjoying the sun and the fresh sea air.

O dia começou lindamente. O sol brilhava intensamente, enchendo o céu de uma luz quente. Não estava muito quente, simplesmente perfeito. Havia uma brisa suave no ar, não muito forte, mas o suficiente para me lembrar que o verão ainda se aproxima. Afinal, estamos em maio, mas mesmo nesta primeira parte da temporada, a praia já estava cheia de vida. Não fui o único que sentiu o chamamento do oceano. Havia famílias, casais e grupos de amigos a aproveitar o sol e o ar fresco do mar.

I arrived at the beach and took a deep breath. The first breath of ocean air after so many days indoors felt amazing. It is hard to explain, but it was like my lungs were smiling. There's something truly special about the way the sea smells, salty, fresh, and full of energy. I had missed it so much.

Cheguei à praia e respirei fundo. A primeira lufada de ar do oceano depois de tantos dias em ambientes fechados foi incrível. É difícil explicar, mas era como se os meus pulmões estivessem a sorrir. Há algo de realmente especial no cheiro do mar: salgado, fresco e cheio de energia. Eu senti muita falta.

I didn't plan anything fancy for the day. I just wanted a quiet walk, something to ease back into my routine without rushing. Near of the Cabo do Mundo Beach, there are wooden walkways, that follow the coast. They are perfect for a peaceful stroll, away from the sand but still close enough to hear the waves crashing and feel the sea breeze.

Não planeei nada de especial para o dia. Queria apenas uma caminhada tranquila, algo para retomar a minha rotina sem pressas. Junto à Praia do Cabo do Mundo, existem passadiços de madeira que acompanham a costa. São perfeitas para um passeio tranquilo, longe da areia, mas ainda assim perto o suficiente para ouvir as ondas a rebentar e sentir a brisa do mar.

As I walked along the passadiços, I could hear the ocean singing. That soft, constant sound of waves coming and going, it is like nature's lullaby. I didn't need music or podcasts. The sound of the sea was enough. Every step I took made me feel lighter, calmer and more present.

Enquanto caminhava pelos passadiços, ouvia o oceano a cantar. Aquele som suave e constante das ondas que vão e vêm é como uma canção de embalar da natureza. Não precisava de música ou podcasts. O som do mar era suficiente. Cada passo que dava fazia-me sentir mais leve, mais calmo e mais presente.

I walked slowly, not worrying about time. I stopped now and then just to look at the view, the endless blue of the ocean meeting the sky at the horizon. It felt like the world was wide open again, after feeling so small and closed during my days of illness. Every little thing became special, the sound of footsteps on the wooden path, the feeling of the wind playing with my hair, the sight of seagulls flying above.

Caminhei lentamente, sem me preocupar com o tempo. Parava de vez em quando só para admirar a vista, o azul infinito do oceano a encontrar o céu no horizonte. Parecia que o mundo estava novamente aberto, depois de me sentir tão pequeno e fechado durante os meus dias de doença. Cada pequena coisa se tornou especial: o som dos passos no caminho de madeira, a sensação do vento a brincar com o meu cabelo, a visão das gaivotas a voar acima.

One thing I love about Praia do Cabo do Mundo is how it combines nature and calmness. It is not too crowded, but never completely empty. There is always a friendly atmosphere, and the view is always breathtaking. Even if you don't go for a swim or stay for long, just being there is enough to recharge your energy.

Uma coisa que adoro na Praia do Cabo do Mundo é a forma como combina natureza e tranquilidade. Não está muito cheio, mas nunca está completamente vazio. Há sempre um ambiente amigável e a vista é sempre de cortar a respiração. Mesmo que não vá nadar ou que lá fique muito tempo, só o facto de estar lá é o suficiente para recarregar energias.

I ended my walk by sitting down on a bench by the path, facing the ocean. I stayed there for a while, just watching the waves and feeling grateful. Grateful for my health, for this beautiful place, and for the chance to enjoy life again.

Terminei a minha caminhada sentando-me num banco à beira do caminho, de frente para o oceano. Fiquei ali por um tempo, apenas a observar as ondas e a sentir-me grato. Grato pela minha saúde, por este lugar lindo e pela oportunidade de voltar a desfrutar da vida.

It may sound simple, but for me, this short visit to the beach was special. It marked a new beginning. Sometimes we forget how important the small things are a walk, fresh air, sunlight. Being close to nature reminds us to slow down and appreciate the moment.

Pode parecer simples, mas para mim, esta curta visita à praia foi especial. Marcou um novo começo. Por vezes esquecemo-nos do quão importantes são as pequenas coisas: um passeio, ar fresco, luz solar. Estar perto da natureza lembra-nos de abrandar e apreciar o momento.
