I took these photos on the balcony of my apartment. I was surprised to see the little dove (Columbina talpacoti) standing on the railing. Where I live, they are very common, and I see them often in the trees or looking for food on the ground.

I approached as slowly as possible so as not to scare it away, hoping that Isis wouldn't see it and scare it with her barking. I got quite close, and it remained calm and tilted its head to look at me. I loved that gesture.

I took these photographs and thought that perhaps it was looking for water, because it is very hot at this time of year, or perhaps some seeds. Or maybe it was just taking a moment to rest. I went to find a container to put some water in for it, but when I came back, it was gone.

It was a beautiful visit that brightened my morning. I hope she comes back

Estas fotografías las tomé en el balcón de mi apartamento. Me soprendio ver la tortolita parada en la reja. En el lugar donde vivo son muy comunes y las veo con mucha frecuencia en los árboles buscando alimentos.

Me acerque lo mas lento posible para no espantarla y deseando que Isis no la viera para que no ladrara. Me acerque bastante y ella se quedó tranquila y ladeo la cabeza para mirarme. Ese gesto me encanto. Le tomé estas fotografías y pensé que quizás estaría buscando agua, porque en esta época está haciendo mucho calor o quizás semillas. O simplemente se tomó un momento para descansar. Me fui a buscar un envase para colocarle agua pero al volver ya no estaba.

Fue una visita hermosa que me alegró la mañana. Espero que vuelva.
