This week, in round #246 of Feathered Friends: Show me a photo where the theme is open, I'm sharing some photos I took in a park I often visit when I go to the city of Caracas.

This park is called Centro de Arte La Estancia, and in addition to cultural facilities, there are gardens with beautiful vegetation that I enjoy walking through. It is in this area where you can see some birds that are free to move around these spaces.

On this occasion, I saw a duck lying at the foot of a tree. I took a photo of it from a distance and then approached it step by step to take another photo from closer up.

This duck was so asleep that it did not wake up when I approached, and I was able to take another photo.

It is a Muscovy duck (Cairina moshata domestica) with a large red wart around its beak, which is large and heavy, distinguishing it from the female of the species.

In this photograph, you can see the female, which is thinner, and, although they may have a smaller wart around their beak, this one was not visible.

These birds are accustomed to the presence of people and walk calmly through gardens, like this rooster that I also photographed. They are not afraid, which makes them easy to photograph.

En esta semana de la ronda #246 de Feathered Friends: Show me a photo donde el tema es libre, les comparto unas fotografías que tomé en un parque que visito con frecuencia cuando voy a la ciudad de Caracas.

Este parque se llama Centro de Arte La Estancia, y ademas de las instalaciones para la cultura, hay jardines con una vegetación muy hermosa que a mi me gusta recorrer.

Es en esa zona donde se pueden observar algunas aves que se encuentran libres de moverse por estos espacios.

En esta oportunidad observe un pato que se encontraba echado al pie de un árbol. Le tomé una fotografía desde lejos y me fui acercando paso a paso para tomarle otra fotografía mas de cerca.

Este pato estaba tan dormido que no se despertó por mi presencia y pude tomarle otra foto. Es un pato criollo (Cairina moshata domestica) con su gran verruga roja alrededor del pico, grande y pesado, lo que lo diferencia de la hembra de la especie.

En esta fotografía esta la hembra, mas delgada y aun cuando pueden tener una verruga mas pequeña alrededor del pico, a esta pata no se le veía.

Estas aves están acostumbradas a la presencia de las personas y caminan tranquilos por los jardines como este gallo que también fotografié. No sienten miedo y por eso son fáciles de fotografiar.
