Round 278/ The Macaws of Caracas (Eng/Esp)

Hello, friends in this community.

For this 278 round of @nelinoeva’s contest, I’m sharing these photos I took recently in Caracas.

These past few weeks have been very difficult, and I’ve been a bit away from Hive, but the birds, with their songs, have been brightening my days as always and gradually bringing me back to normal.

I came back to my hometown to check on my family, and I was so happy to see the noisy macaws (Ara macao) flitting among the trees and approaching apartment windows in search of food.

They’ve already adapted to this urban environment, and people love them and care for them in the wild.

I have a friend who gets visits from them every morning and afternoon, and she feeds them sunflower seeds. Macaws mainly feed on palm fruits and seeds, and there’s plenty of vegetation here, so they live peacefully in this area.

When I heard them—their squawks are unmistakable—I saw a group of about 4 or 5 scarlet macaws, and of course I pulled out my phone to take some pictures. They were a bit high up, but I managed to get a few shots to share as part of this initiative.

All the birds in this group had yellow and blue plumage and, like the ones in these photographs, were perched on window bars and clotheslines.

Hola amigos amantes de las aves

En esta ronda #278 del concurso de @nelinoeva, les muestro estas fotografias que tome recientemente en la ciudad de Caracas.

Estas ultimas semanas han sido muy complicadas y he estado un poco alejada de Hive, pero las aves con sus cantos han estado como siempre alegrando los dias y trayendome de vuelta poco a poco a la normalidad.

Me vine a esta mi ciudad natal a saber de mi familia y me alegró mucho ver a las ruidosas guacamayas revolotear sobre los árboles y acercarse a las ventanas de los apartamentos en busqueda de comida. Ellas ya estan adaptadas a este ambiente urbano y las personas las quieren y las cuidan en libertad.

Tengo una amiga a la que visitan todos los dias en la mañana y en la tarde y ella las alimenta con semillas de girasol. Las guacamayas se alimentan principalmente de frutos de palmas y de semillas y en este lugar hay mucha vegetación, asi que viven tranquilas en esta zona.

Al escucharlas, porque su graznidos son inconfundibles, vi un grupo de entre 4 o 5 guacamayas y por supuesto saque mi teléfono para tomarles fotografías. Estaban a cierta altura pero si logré algunas para participar en esta iniciativa.
