Capturing the City: A Springtime Photography Walk
Spring in Lithuania always feels like a reward after the long, gray winter. The sun finally returns, the air feels lighter, and everything seems to wake up again. A few days ago, my photography class took advantage of one of the first truly sunny days and went for a walk through the city, cameras in hand, with no specific goal—just to observe and capture what caught our eye.
There was something refreshing about not having a set theme. We wandered through old streets, stopping to admire the details of historic buildings—cracked paint on wooden doors, intricate window frames, and the soft play of sunlight on stone walls. Sometimes, the most ordinary things became fascinating when viewed through a lens. A rusty mailbox, a forgotten bicycle leaning against a fence, or the way the light reflected in a puddle from the melting snow.
While winter in Lithuania can feel endless, filled with dull skies and barely any light, this day felt different. The golden glow of the sun made everything look warm, even though the air was still crisp. Shadows stretched across the streets, and for the first time in months, people seemed to linger outside, enjoying the weather instead of rushing indoors.
We didn’t rush either. Everyone in the group moved at their own pace, pausing when something caught their attention. Some focused on architecture, others on street life, while I found myself drawn to small details—the textures of walls, old street signs, the way tree branches cast delicate shadows on buildings. It was a reminder that beauty is everywhere if you take the time to notice it.
By the end of our walk, my camera roll was filled with completely random shots. It was a simple walk, but sometimes, those are the moments that stay with you the longest.
Here are some shots from our walk. All photos are made walking through different parts of Kaunas, Lithuania.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful✨. These are really dope shots. Tbh, I can't pick one, but if I have to, I'm going with black and white cracked wooden house. 👏👏👏👏
