A Windy Walk with My Camera in Reykjavik, Iceland

Some time ago, I had a really short work trip to Reykjavik, Iceland—just a quick visit for a meeting. Even though I didn’t have much free time, I made sure to bring my camera with me. I knew even a short walk in Iceland could be inspiring, and I wasn’t wrong.

After the meeting, I headed out to explore the city a little. It was super windy, so walking around for too long wasn’t really an option, but I still managed to enjoy the atmosphere and take some shots. The air felt so crisp and fresh, and even the wind had its own kind of energy. It made the whole place feel more alive somehow.

What really caught my eye were the reflections in the water and the distant mountains that framed the city. Even from Reykjavik’s more urban areas, you can see these wild landscapes in the background—it’s like nature is always part of the scene. I didn’t have the time (or weather) to go far, but I was still happy to capture a few quiet moments.

The light in Iceland is something special. It’s soft and clear, even when the sky is cloudy. The colors were muted in the best way, and everything had this calm, almost cinematic feeling. I can imagine how incredible it must be to photograph the Icelandic nature deeper inland—the waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers. I haven’t had the chance yet, but just seeing others’ work from Iceland already feels like flipping through a National Geographic magazine.

Even though this wasn’t a big photography trip, I’m glad I got to see even a small part of Iceland through my lens. Sometimes short moments like this are enough to make a lasting impression. I’d love to go back someday, with more time and better weather, and explore the wild side of this country with my camera fully ready.

For now, I’m sharing just a few shots from that windy walk in Reykjavik. Hope you enjoy the atmosphere as much as I did!

The place you visited was very beautiful. Even though there was a strong wind when you took the picture, the result was very beautiful, as if nothing had happened.
