A Random Jump into the Heart of Paris with Meta Quest 3
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to instantly teleport to the vibrant streets of Paris? I put on the Meta Quest 3 headset and tried doing just that—exploring the city completely at random without any planned itinerary.
Virtual Paris, Real Sensations
Instead of a typical guided tour, I picked a random location and instantly found myself in the picturesque Latin Quarter (Quartier Latin), right on the famous Rue de la Huchette. All around me were iconic Parisian buildings, colorful restaurants, crêperies, souvenir shops, and the classic red awnings and neon signs.
Thanks to the advanced mixed and virtual reality technology, the experience felt amazingly realistic—pedestrians walking by, cobblestone paths, and detailed architecture created the genuine feeling of standing right in the middle of Paris.
Freely Exploring the Street Life
The real charm of this kind of exploration is the ability to fully immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of the city. I was able to stroll past outdoor cafes, check out local clothing and souvenir displays, and explore the hidden corners of old city streets.
Stepping just a bit further down, the narrow street opens up toward larger avenues near the Seine river, offering striking views of grand Parisian structures, bridges, and city traffic.

In just a few years, we won't need to leave home to explore the entire world. We will see and physically feel that we are actually there. It’s only a matter of time.
