My Preference—Weekly Engagement #Wk 21

Hello Hivers and friends, welcome to my blog!

I am here to share with you my preference between Western style dressing and traditional style dressing. It is a wonderful engagement topic from Hive Ghana, and I appreciate it.

Clothing is one of the human necessities of life. We all wear clothes, and we all have our own style.
Without wasting much of your time, I am going to tell you what I like and why I like it.

Looking at picture two, I am the girl in a gold Western dress and makeup, and the beautiful girl beside me is a eucharistic dancer in traditional attire of Ankara, a white top, and doted native chalk as makeup.
Both of us are beautiful and unique.
She represented the concluded traditional marriage before this white wedding, and I represented the white wedding.
So you can see that both Western and traditional dress style is significant.

However, one must have her preference, and mine is the Western style of dressing.
Yes, I love the comfort it gives me. Unlike the traditional dress, I don't have to go through so many processes to get it done. Mine is to go to my favorite boutique and pay for my style and size.
I feel so comfortable and confident wearing the Western style. Picture 1 says it all, you can see the way I slayed it.
Smiles…

Now, let us look at picture 4. (The dress is known as asoebi😊).

I look so beautiful and gorgeous in that traditional dress, right? But you can't imagine how uncomfortable I was wearing it.
The material was too heavy and the Gele on my head was making me feel sleepy.
I was praying for the wedding to end so I will go and pull them off.

I use picture 3 to show that as much as I love Western clothes, I still wear my traditional Ankara.
The good thing is that I chose a lighter material and sewed it in Western style.
This grace my confidence and makes me smart in my steps.
Also, my identity can be easily guessed as African. I love my culture, and I can do anything possible to portray it.

Like I said earlier, we all have our preferences. This is mine, and I hope I've been able to explain the reason behind it.

Thank you very much for stopping by, and for your time and support.

Images are mine.

That's a great question indeed, that I never really thought of. I think both traditional and western clothing suits you, and it must be nice to mix it up sometimes. I admire the headscarves as I find them to be so elegant:)

Actually, both traditional and western clothing’s look great on you. I always say this, choose comfort over sophistication. If you’re comfortable in it, go for it and do your thing!
Thanks for sharing with us.

I don't think there should be any reason to purposefully wear sophisticated things, except to impress people.
Thank you for the kind compliment🤗.
