Tatra Mountains - Spring 2025 #1 - Koscielisko (PL)

New series from my latest travel to Tatra Mountains - the highest mountain range in Poland.

I was traveling with my wife and son and we had 3 full days there to explore few chosen places...

In the nest few posts I will share the photos which I managed to capture.

The first day was rough, weather wasn't great both for photography and hiking and my son got a bit cold after the travel so he had no power to run up the mountains...
Because of that we chose to go for a hike to the valley instead of climbing up the mountains.

Our choice was Koscieliska Valley - Dolina Kościeliska - located nearby Zakopane - the main city in the area of Tatra mountains, by the village called Koscielisko.

Because it was a valley, the trail was full of people in different age and condition.
This is family friendly path so we met many small children as well as very old peoples, many tours and organized groups.

It is definitely not the place to visit if You want to escape from crowd and noise :(... but it is how it is... Tatra mountains are one of the biggest natural attraction in Poland so every year many thousands of tourists are going there.
It is crazy high traffic during high season - people can stand in a line for hours, waiting to get to the top of the most famous summits like Giewont or to a cable railway on Kasprowy Wierch.

For me it is too much and I would never go there during summer or winter holidays.

I won't write much about the valley itself - it has a long history of settlements, it was also a trader's path, place of living for many bandits. There was some mining activity as well.
In the valley we can find multiple caves - some of them are available for exploration and one has electric lights (Mrozna Cave).

As You can see on the shots the light and colours were dull, overexposed, without any depth...
I was doing my best to capture some more interesting landscapes but the effects are not the best.

Anyway, I hope You will enjoy watching this gallery as well as reaing this short post.
