Gdansk - Night Session in the Old Town

Hi Guys!

As I promissed I will share some shots from Gdansk during the night time session.
If You haven't seen the "day time gallery" - check it out HERE

The same day I came back to my car and waited a couple of hours for the darkness.
I was wondering how the city looks during the night, how the old buildings are lighted up, what are the dominant colours... and to feel the atmosphere of sleeping town.

There were some people on the streets but most of the restauramnts and bars were already closed or during closing. It was close to midnight...

For this session I had to use a tripod to get the best picture quality and of course to use long exposure technique to smooth the water surface and create beautiful, colorful reflections of street lights.

On the first three shots You can see very famous, old building - Old port crane by Motlava - I found information that this is the biggest and the best preserved such object in Europe.
Gdansk was one of the most important sea ports that time.

The city looked as as I imagine it - very peaceful, colorful, the architecture there is original and many buildings by the river very unique.

Late night walk in the city is an interesting way to get it known better. Luckily Poland is still very safe country and I wasn't scared to walk alone there with very expensive gear in my hands.

This was a great decision to wait until dark and to walk among the river one more time.
I think I will do it more often - to explore such places in the night time looking for such night-time street photography.

Two last shots were taken close to another very characteristic turist attraction by Motlawa river - Sołdek.
Soldek is name of this big ship - steam-powered bulk carrier – it was the first seagoing ship built entirely in Poland after World War II.
Now it is open for public, during the day we can go inside and explore the whole ship. I was there one year ago and it is worth seeing how it looks. It makes an impression!

For now it is the end of gallery from Gdansk - next day I headed North to reach the Baltic Sea shoreline and for the next three days I explored some new places there - I will post and share the photographic results of these explorations in the next posts.

Stay tuned and thanks a lot for all the support!

I recognized the location momentarily, by the classic view at the Elevator Tower. Seen it in postcards many times. :)
