Gdansk - Beautiful Historical Town in Poland - Day Time

Hi Friends!

In June I took a 5-day trip to Pomerania region in Poland where I was planning to visit multiple locations, explore and photograph them, living in my Honda CR-V II car.

Such travel experience is my very best way to discover new places.
This one isn't new of course - Gdansk is a well known Polish city located by Zatoka Gdanska close to Baltic Sea, with big harbor, lovely surroundings and of course - beautiful and very turistic Old Town area.

My first day and first night I spent very close to this Old Town in Gdans, I found a small parking spot for a night which was free! I think it was one of the very last free parking spots in such close distance to city centrum. Located closer to harbor district, 10m from Motlawa river.

This was the first time when I spent a night in a car, on a parking lot, in such a big city - but it was all ok, very quiet and peaceful.

That evening was really nice - warm and sunny with few delicate clouds on the sky.
Golden light of low sun was lighting up the buildings by Motlawa, reflecting colors and light from it's surface.

Maybe architecture is not my favorite type of photography but I really enjoyed looking at such views and capturing some of them on my camera.

For my exploration area I chose the main paths among Motlawa river as well as the streets of old town's market.

Below You can see the famous Neptune Fountain located in the old town square.

What You cannot see on the shots is the noise there as there was a really a lot of people everywhere. Thay seems peaceful but in fact there were people around me all the time ;).

Other thing is a very strong wind I experienced that day.

Anyway, the light of Golden Hour was magical!

To try something different I put my ND filter on the lens and tried to shoot some long exposure shots.

Not many of them but two the best ones You can see below.

Gdansk is full of magical places and it is worth to explore every single street there!

Many of them were much more quiet, having unique atmosphere and peaceful vibe.
Beautiful architecture was also something I loved there - many handmade details, all the different colours and shapes...

Definitely- city worth visiting! and I am not surprised that it is so popular among foreign tourists.

Below You can see more shots I took during the evening sessions on the streets.

However that day didn't finish for me - I was planning to wait until nighttime and make one more session by the river - this time capturing night time city lights and colours...

I will present the results in my next post!

I’ve always wanted to try living out of a car and just exploring places like this. Gdansk looks so magical during golden hour ✨

Gdansk is a beautiful town, worth visiting when traveling to Poland. Close to the sea, a lot of historical places but also many modern attractions.
Such way of exploration is my favorite - I can park and sleep practicly everywhere for free and be at the place as long as I want to :). It is a pity I don't have many oportunities to do such long travels. Thanks for the comment!

That's so beautiful indeed! Makes me feel like 5 days are definitely not enough to get used to all that beauty Poland has to offer!

No, it is definitely too short - during this trip I focused only on the small part of the coastline - I will share the rest of my explorations soon. Cheers!

This was an amazing read indeed. I felt like I was in Gdansk with you instead of just watching you explore it through your camera. Seeing the river’s light reflect on the buildings in the golden hour was stunning. I love that you have an adventurous side like your car camping to the centre of the city. It surely adds to your photographs, and now that you told me that you’re posting your next night shoot, I can barely contain my excitement.
