"Say Thanks With A Feeling"

So many times I find myself just running around
I'm reading this book or that one
But I never take a moment to simply rest with you
And I have the world at my fingertips

So why don't I just let myself be free?
You're always by my side
No matter what I might find
The flowers that you gave to me

There's never been a better thing that you could do
I had so many things I should've given to you, every day
What if every night I go to bed feeling gratitude and don't express it is like wrapping a present up and not giving it?
It's just not right...

I try to put down the things I should be grateful for
But the words come up fighting like I don't even mean them
So if we're not learning from our mistakes

I think somebody's been going through my lesson plan
Sometimes it takes throwing it all out on the line
To teach me how to be grateful again

So today I'm happy, today I'm grateful
And I'll say it until someone hears it
Anything that I've accomplished is an extra blessing
It's the only way my darkness fades.
