“Escaping Chains”

Woke up with a lingering feeling of pain in my head
I didn't even notice the growing idleness of my life
Past memories that keep on circling around my mind
Trying to shake off the negativity isn't in my wheelhouse

Every step that I make feels like a shot at the roulette
It was never my turn to be lucky in this game that I chose
What would it take for me to win that one chance?
I've been praying for a sign to show me the way

Leaving my old self behind is not an easy choice to make
Regrets keep chasing me in every step that I make
Can I have the peace of mind that I deserve?
Even a slight hint is something that I would appreciate

Let me shed some light into this dark path that I'm going through
A sense of direction is all I need to get to the other side
Awakened by the sound of my own thoughts
I found my way out of this void that imprisoned me

Escaping these chains that bound me to the past is a test
Letting go of my emotions would mean losing all of me
Contained in the past with all of the miseries
Break free from all of the chains is a redemption that I yearn for.
