Spring Photography: blooming Vojanovy Sady in Prague

avatar
(Edited)

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

I thought I would be too busy to post anything during the weekend but we just happened to visit a really nice place here in Prague, Czech Republic earlier today and I simply have to share the pictures from there with you as long as they are fresh so here we go :)

The place that I´m talking about is called Vojanovy Sady in the Czech language, which would translate as "Vojan´s Orchards" in English and it´s a lovely little park found just a few minutes of walking from the famous Charles Bridge. That´s right! This beautiful green oasis is located in the very center of the city but once you make it to the park, you will totally forget that you are in the middle of a bustling metropolis as it´s so nice, green and peaceful over there...

Let me first show you a bunch of shots depicting the park itself before we get to the main attraction of the place...

Feels pretty nice, right? Many beautiful species of trees and flowers, a picturesque little lake in the middle of the park and a lot of benches to sit down, relax and enjoy the lovely ambiance of the place. But I also promised to show you what really makes the park a special place and here they go... the peacocks!

There are dozens of the these magnificent birds in the park, both males and females and from what I observed, they are already used to the human presence as they didn´t seem to be bothered by the visitors of the park too much. However, they still like to have some privacy and peace and quiet too of course and people should respect it. We saw some little kids chasing the peacocks and their parents watched them without saying anything so it was actually me who told the kids to stop it and leave those poor birds alone. I can only imagine how many times things like these happen every single day... Fortunately, there are those big trees in there too so when the peacocks get really pissed, they can fly up there, sit on the branches and maybe even drop some "bombs" on the annoying people below as a revenge :)

To find out the exact location of Vojanovy Sady, feel free to check out the Pinmapple, I pinned it there ;)

What beautiful photos! I need to make a note of this place for when I visit Prague. The peacocks are beautiful too. How beautiful Prague looks in spring!

Absolutely :) You missed the Christmas Markets but spring or summer is a great time to visit Prague as well. I´m sure it will be one of your first destinations to travel to once your Polish citizenship is approved and granted :) Hope you will make it here before the final stage of your pregnancy :D

Yes, I'm sure too and I can't wait! They said it would take a couple of months but hopefully not much longer haha. I also hope it's before I have a big belly haha. Greetings!

Wait. What? Peacocks can fly? What the hell are those fellas doing up the trees? o\

Well, I didn´t know that either but seeing those fellas high up in the trees, I consulted this thing with uncle Google and he confirmed it :D They can fly indeed. No long distance flights of course but they still can fly for up to a mile whenever they need to... Cool dudes!

Just imagine if they could fly and glide like birds, how beautiful that would be 😮

Yeah, that would look so cool. But with all that extra "decoration" weight, the laws of physics would probably be strongly against it :D :/

The place is very beautiful. So colorful and lively! I wouldn't mind spending the whole day here and just be immersed in this environment. The peacocks have class :)

Well spotted. Such a cool natural getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city that is literally all around this park... The peacocks are truly magnificent creatures.

Právě naopak, zhostil jsem se tam role ochránce pávů, když jsem okřikl cizí děcko, které jednoho chudáka furt nahánělo a tahalo za ocas... I když je fakt, že pár facek by si zasloužili spíš rodiče toho spratka.

Glorious day it was indeed, thanks for joining me on that walk Pauline and thank you for picking my post as one of honorable mentions yesterday, I was not expecting it at all. I guess I should come back there and thank those peacocks for that :) Yeah, there were many of them! I just wish the visitors of the park didn´t stress them so much :(

Oh thank you! Many years ago I ran a half marathon through Prague - and skirted through the park. It was sublime and the Czech food and music was surreal. But we were there slap bang in the middle of a miserable winter weekend. Got pick pocketed of both wallet and passport in the experience. However I heard that the park was beautiful, and now you have proved it to be so.

Are you sure it was this park? There are many similar parks in Prague and from what I know, the marathon course doesn´t run through this park... But anyway, I´m glad that you got to spend some time in Prague but I´m really sorry to hear that you got pickpocketed here! :( I hope you will give Prague one more chance in future (preferably in some other season than winter) to show you how amazing the city actually is...

Maybe I'm wrong. It was 20 years ago. I just remember the dreary grey, running over Charles bridge and veering off to skirt the park. Either way - Spring over there looks beautiful. And despite the unpleasant part and the fact that it was winter, I loved my week in Prague

I'm feeling pretty seeing these beautiful views of the park. This is my first time when I'm seeing many peacocks together usually I saw them inside the cage. You’ve explored the park perfectly and I wish to visit there someday in my life. Loved all these beautiful photos you’ve shared 😍

The first thing I saw was the tulips 🌷😍... Did I spend 5 minutes staring at them? Yes, yes I did.... En die pou! A peacock is called "pou" in my language, funny since I think it sounds like poo to a lot of English speakers and it's auch a beautiful animal 😂

0

Wow, thanks for checking out those tulip shots so profoundly, some people comment without actually viewing any of the pictures here, let alone reading the text... :D ;) Pou! That´s an interesting word. What language are we talking about here?

0

avatar

Well they missed out of some amazing pictures of the park! I would sit on those benches the entire day reading and enjoying the beautiful flowers around me. I do admit, I click for the photos 😅, some posts don't even include text. But if someone took the time to type something why not read it? Even if you're more interested in the photos and comment on them, you can still read the text. That's why I don't like social media like Instagram, everything is just images, no one every communicates or interact with one another. Yeah, we won't always have something "big" to say, but informing someone of their great skills, or pointing out something you enjoyed about their post is something I value on the Hive. So thaks again for sharing this!

BTW the language is Afrikaans, all the way from South Africa. And no it's not Dutch, similar but I won't be able to have a complete easy flowing conversation with a Dutch speaker.

Well, the so called "comment farming" has been an issue here on Hive. People would leave a comment just for the sake of commenting and getting the upvote, often even without actually reading the post... Usually, it´s just annoying but sometimes, it can be extremely inappropriate. Some time ago, for example, I posted a long and quite elaborate post about a concentration camp in Poland where thousands of people were tortured and killed during the WWII. The post also included dozens of photos of the site that I purposely put in black and white to respect the tragic history of the place. As usually, however, I still got a few comments like "Wow, cool shots" or "Amazing place" from people obviously didn´t even bother to read the title or view the pictures... I was really close to start downvoting them for the blatant ignorance back then...

So Afrikaans it is! Cool, now I know a word in this language, thanks :)

Aah yes, I've seen some "wow, beautiful" comments on post. I feel like it's best just to ignore these type of comments. If they comment something like that, don't even upvote it. I currently hold Luv coin, and when I comment I give that along. I'm only able to do 3 a day, but I'f I know the author give comment upvotes I try to send the luv their way. The people on my favourite list are people I enjoy reading about, seeing their photographs, walking through a virtual museum, I think more people should treat hive as a interactive space.

I know a few weeks my partner made a post about the Boer War in South Africa. And some people only commented "this is amazing". He goes into a section speaking about the horrors that happened to the women and children, and to think people missed that little history lesson.

My friend tip: ignore those comments 😌. Don't bother upvoting them. I've seen a few people here just scrolling past them.

Enjoy your day!

Sorry to hear about your boyfriend´s experience, sounds exactly like mine with that concentration camp post... And no worries, I don´t upvote comments left by people who obviously didn´t bother to read the post ;) Have a nice day too! Greetings from Czechia to South Africa!

Super fotky!

Rodiče to viděli, ještě si to děcko u toho fotili a neřekli nic...

What a wonderful, Prague! The place is so relaxing and I love to stroll there and take a lot of selfies. The beautiful and colorful flowers in the garden are indeed attractive with all the greenery and freshness of the atmosphere. And of course, my favorite Cherry blossoms, and all the pink flowers there. More beautiful moments from you my friend and have safe travels.

Beautiful place to spend a a good time and enjoy the park, the nature and everything that comes with it. Really cool to have it in middle of the city! I knew it Prague is an amazing city!

Your first photo reminded me of a place I visited in BC, Canada, on Vancouver island called The Butchard Gardens. When I saw the picture, I instantly thought on mine! They kind of look alike, don't you think?

Well, yes. This place is nore wild, to say so. It has a lot more vegetation and all kind of plants, but that very first photo of yours it looks a bit like this, especially if I'd have a photo taken in the same angle.

My pleasure too 😊 for stopping by every time I get the chance. But my time is limited these days. I have a little more time this weekend though. 😁
