Magical Madeira: tiny sample of local stunning flora

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

I´m really glad to see that this time, it didn´t take me long months to come with another Madeira post. The previous one was published not even a full month ago and today, I´m excited to take you on this spectacular Portuguese island again. It will a be a very short visit though as I didn´t get to accumulate enough photo material for a post that would do at least a bit of justice to how incredibly rich Madeira is when it comes to the floral biodiversity. That´s right, we will take a look at some amazing flowers and plants that you can see on Madeira but again, our time on the island was very limited so I only managed to click a few shots but I think they turned out pretty nice and thus still want to share them with you here on my blog ;)

But let me first provide you with some background. No official internet sources though, just my own memories, experiences and observations. As you might remember from some of my previous posts from this Magical Madeira travel / photography series, the island enjoys a very specific climate and soil, which makes it extremely fertile and thus also extremely rich in all kinds of vegetation. You might also remember from my last post about the Farmers´ Market that local farmers grow all kinds of fruits and vegetables - from the ones that we have here in Central Europe to subtropical and even tropical species that cannot be found anywhere on the European continent.

And the very same can be said about the flowers and plants of Madeira too. The area of the island is just 800 sq km (300 sq mi), which is actually only 1% of the area of my tiny little Czech homeland, and yet, the flora over there is so rich and diverse, that local souvenir shops sell entire books about. I know that very well as I bought one for my mum who is the ultimate flower enthusiast. I mean she really is, her backyard garden looks like a botanical garden that people wouldn´t mind paying entrance fee to :D I digress too much, sorry about that. Back to Madeira. So yeah, the island really has a lot to offer to all botany lovers as it´s home to more than a thousand of amazing plant species. If I make to the island again, I promise I will take many more flower pictures than what you are about to see now ;)

That´s it. A tiny sample, just like I said in the title. So multiply that by at least a hundred and you will get an idea of how rich and beautiful the flora of Madeira actually is :) I should also mention that some of the pictures featured above were taken in a lovely botanical garden called Monte Palace. That´s a place where I actually took dozens of cool shots and I really hope to make this breathtaking place the main topic of my next Madeira post as it totally was one of the highlights of our stay on this extraordinary island. Hopefully soon...

I was wowed when I saw the pictures and I had to check the previous post about Madeira too. Maybe Madeira should be called home of flowers and foods too. That Portuguese island must have a lot of wonderful things

Well, I can see that you already commented on the previous post when it was published so you either didn´t read the post (which is what you usually do) or forgot about it. Just out of curiosity: what was the last time you actually read someone´s post here on Hive? I mean read it all. Not just browse the pictures...

I do wonder if she's actually a bot :) She doesn't tend to respond to replies.

I wouldn´t say she is a bot. I think she is just an ignorant comment farmer who never reads the posts that she comments on and never replies to anything :D Actually, as I´m thinking about it now, a bot would be a better option :D

There's a few people who go purely for quantity of comments and get some Ecency points for it. You can see that they only spend a minute or two per post, so can't be reading or watching much. I am not rewarding them for that. Mind you, it is not as bad as it got on the old Tsu site I used where you got a lot of comments just saying 'Nice post'. As Hive grows we may have more issues like that. Real engagement tends to be more rewarding.

Yeah, I noticed that some people write like dozens of these super short generic comments every day. I thought they only do it because they can get some little upvotes for that but I didn´t realize they also collect Ecency points by that. Now I also get why they never reply. That´s actually pretty sad. Fortunately, most of the engagement I get under my posts is still real and organic. And I really appreciate it :)

Aww, thanks for your kind words and support my friend! I´m happy to know that you enjoyed this little flower collection and that some of them are even familiar to you :) My Venezuelan amiga and favorite superhero @gatubela informed me that there is a huge community of people from Madeira living in Venezuela, maybe it´s just them trying to feel like home :D

Ah! @Gatubela is a mutual friend and always an active creator and consumer of content on #Hive, her comments always have something interesting to bring up!...

Yes of course, we have a long tradition of Portuguese migrants here.... My late father-in-law was originally from Madeira, he and his parents migrated when he was a newborn... The passion for flowers and other ornamental plants of the Portuguese people seems to have great effect on our species used in the gardens of Venezuela then!.... :))

Greetings and hugs again!

Some nice and true words about our Cat Woman hehe :) Actually, I have a lot of friends from Venezuela here on Hive. Your community is one of the biggest and strongest in here. I even had the privilege to meet one of you in real life - my friend @evelynchacin now lives in Poland and we got to meet up in Krakow last year, it was amazing :)

What? You have some ancestors from Madeira yourself? That´s cool! I hope you will get to visit this island one day, it´s just so beautiful over there! You would take tons of spectacular photos in there :)

Hugs and greetings back to you!
