Magical Madeira: breathtaking mountain views

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

It has been ages since I got to post something else than my regular contests (in fact, I often struggle to keep even those alive) and I hate to see my blog this dull and monotonous so I pushed myself to make some little room in my crazy real life schedule and finally post something different again. I still have a lot of unpublished photo material from a variety of cool locations and Madeira is one of them for sure. I even started this little photography series titled "Magical Madeira" but unfortunately, I only managed to post a couple of parts of it before falling silent for months.

Without further (awkward) ado, let me roll out another post dedicated to this spectacular Portuguese island called Madeira and this time, we will check out the island´s magnificent mountains. Actually, mountains cover most of the island´s area and we only got to visit a tiny little fraction of them but it was still an amazing hike and I totally enjoyed all the views that we were lucky to have. I said lucky because at these altitudes of more than 1,800 meters above the sea level, heavy clouds, fog and bad visibility are very common. But we were really lucky as we got some fantastic sunny weather that day. All the pictures that you will see below were taken by me from the top of (and around) Pico do Arieiro, the third tallest mountain on the island.

I hope you enjoyed the post, even tough it was mostly visual this time with not much of a write up. There are so many things I would love to write about - from the places that I visited in the past to updates on how we are taking on the big new challenge called parenthood. The current happenings in the world of crypto is another topic that I would like to cover and there also many amazing and creative challenges and initiatives hosted here on Hive that I would totally and eagerly join if... well, you know. Damn, I just realized that I didn´t even get to wish you guys Merry Christmas and Happy New Year before the holidays and I guess it´s a bit too late to do it now :/ It´s not just our lovely little daughter that has been keeping us occupied though. You know, things tend to pile up in life so there is more stuff that we need to take care of now, including moving to another city. But I don´t want to turn this post into a personal rant over a lack of time. This post is about the beauty of the astonishing Madeira mountains and I hope you liked it ;)

Yes, I saw some, you got to visit really nice places back then :) I didn´t travel much in 2021 as it was during the pandemic period but I still have a lot of unpublished content from the times before and after covid.

The mountain scenery is always amazing and truly a beauty of nature. I like very much. I lived in the mountains for the whole of 2022 and enjoyed it very much.

That's all are beautiful cool click's. But these type of animals, insect's are scary. How you captured it?? Isn't it scary?

What insects are you talking about? The only animal featured in the photos is a lizard. It was a tiny little harmless lizard that let me take a close up picture of him as he was not afraid of my camera.

Btw, just out of curiosity, how much stuff do you always carry with you? Cause you seem to be moving even more often than me when I was literally living out of the backpack :)

0

avatar

Hahaha I soooo wished it was just a backpack !LOL
It’s exactly 20m3… 86 boxes and 64 loose items to be precise… 🫣 lots of guitars and art stuff… next to a half furnished house. This is reduced over the years greatly. It got less and less hahaha 🤣
So it takes a while to pack and organise a full country move. With all needs to be listed every time.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Whaat?! You literally transport an entire house when you move?! That´s crazy! I cannot even imagine... I´m a very organized person and all the chaos with packing/unpacking that much stuff would kill me! :D

0
0
0.000
avatar

Hahaha yep 🫣😇 I do.
It’s a lot of planning and organising every time. Can you believe that I am sooooo done with it all.
I soooo need to settle. It’s too much.
But hey, such is life. I can tell you, mine is anything but boring !LOL
We will get there one day. Every move is a step closer…

Have a great mid week @phortun 👋🏻

0

0.000
avatar

Wow. So you hate all the chaos too but yet cannot help and keep on moving (literally :D) Well, let´s hope that one day you will find a destination where you will settle down :) Or another option would be getting rid of enough stuff so that your life will would into a backpack, then moving is pretty easy ;)

Have a nice week too!

Oh I so hate it, believe me. All my art materials from my art studio have been packed in boxes for 4 years. I haven’t been able to do any art I would like to. We never had space to start. If I wanted to unpack, a new move came up… but this time we said we stay years in the next place. I have a space for my art and can set up my art studio. 😊 so just that keeps me going… soon I am back doing the things I love. Being in raw nature in the forest. 🌳
So who knows… maybe, just maybe we stay there. Hahaha !LOL

My stuff never will fit in a backpack 🎒 sadly. Believe me we travel light. Just most of the time we had unfurnished places. So I have some furniture… we need it in the next place too.

Have a lovely Sunday 👋🏻😊

Děkujeme a zdravíme zpět :)

Raz sa tam naozaj musím pozrieť 😊 No my máme vonkajšie žalúzie a nemusíme byť ani na ostrovoch, aby sme občas nemohli spať. Keď fúka, tak buchotajú tak, že ani štuple do uší nepomáhajú 😂

Tak to držím palce, nech niečo rýchlo nájdete. Ale tak pri najhoršom môžete chvíľu ostať pri rodine, či?

Wow, when I think of Madeira I already see images like out of a movie, that's what the photos you took on this spectacular island did to me.

Thanks for your kind feedback my friend, I´m glad that my posts from Madeira have inspired you to plan to visit the island :) Or at least to think about it ;) Funchal is a very nice town but it would be pity to restrict your visit only to that place. Literally every corner of the island is interesting. I can totally imagine living there for the rest of my life. Beautiful place with stunning nature, pleasant climate all year round, relaxed lifestyle, friendly people and delicious food ;)

Aww, finally someone who can appreciate the little scaly friend that I made there :) Cannot believe what some people wrote in the comments here (that it looks dangerous, should be dead etc...) And yeah, the Madeira mountains are so beautiful. So lush and green, covered with waterfalls and other amazing creations my Mother Nature. You would love it there :)

What? They said that? 😳😒🤬😡😢 What's going on with those people? That lizard is much better and more beautiful than many of them.
I didn't know that Madeira has high mountains, they look like an amazing place to go hiking and enjoy nature 🏞️⛰️, far away from those stupid people that probably the only thing that enjoy doing is checking their smartphones 😒🤦🏻‍♀️
I'm sure I will enjoy them ⛰️🏃🏻‍♀️😃

"That lizard is much better and more beautiful than many of them."

Hehe, that´s exactly what I thought too ;) I actually often say that I like animals more than most people ;)

Yeah, Madeira is in fact extremely hilly. It´s a little island but the landscape goes from the sea level up to almost 2,000 meters over a distance of just a few kilometers. Crazy terrain but breathtakingly beautiful. Hikers paradise ;)
