From winter wonderland to tropical paradise
Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!
As I have already mentioned in some of my previous posts and comments, I will be traveling again very soon and if everything goes according to the plan, I should send you a warm greeting on Wednesday from an amazing tropical place that I don´t want to reveal yet :)
With that being said, we have already been quite busy preparing for the travel as it requires a lot different things to be taken care of and once there, I will try to enjoy the place and take as many photos as possible over there so my time here on Hive will be very limited again, sorry about that. I actually haven´t even decided yet if I bring my laptop over there with me or not and you may know that I do everything Hive related on my laptop and not on my phone. So yeah, I apologize in advance for not being really active here in the next 10 days or something...
But back to the present and to the title now. What winter wonderland am I talking about? Well, the one that can be found out there in nature here in Prague these days! It has been snowing and freezing a lot here lately and I went for a little snowy photo shooting a couple of days ago. It was actually sunny that day but the temperature was still way below zero so the frosty beauty was not melting away but rather just shining and glittering in the sunlight. It was actually quite the spectacle so me and my old phone camera did our best to capture a bit of this winter wonderland for you :) All of the pictures that you are going to see below were taken by me on and around the Prokop Creek here in the Prague neighborhood of Stodulky.
I hope you enjoyed the shots. The half frozen creek with its water running fast through the ice holes and crevices was a very challenging subject for my phone (that doesn´t even have the long exposure feature) but I think the result is actually not so bad.

Thanks for your feedback :) Well, ice and snow might look cool in photos but living in this kind of weather for several months every year is not so enjoyable. Plus the days are super short now, the sun sets at around 4 P.M. here now, which is another thing that many people can find very difficult to cope with.

Winter is beautiful also for sure. 🙂 Safe travels, now I'm curious to know that destiny! Btw, if your travels take you to Cabo Verde, São Vicente and Santo Antão are probably great choices: those are pretty green, with hiking trails, and only a short boat ride from each other. Have fun! !BEER

Great shots, man. How these ice creeks form on top of the water without dissolving never ceases to amaze me. It must be damn cold to keep the ice solid even though it’s right on top of water and should under normal circumstance have dissolved.
I hope you reconsider not sending your laptop though. We want to follow you on this trip through everything as you’re doing them.
Thanks man! It was actually not that cold that day, just some minus 7 C :) But yeah, it usually takes some decent and long term sub-zero temperatures for streams and rivers to freeze, unlike lakes, ponds and other still bodies of water that freeze relatively easily...
I think I will actually take the laptop with me. I will not post much but at least for upvoting and keeping my regular series alive ;)
daaaamn those are some really good icey pictures and that kind of cold there is lovely (sucks for the gasbill though, or is it not that expensive by you guys at the moment?)

Thank you :) You got some nice frosty shots there too. The energy bills suck here too of course but if you live in an apartment house and your neighbors heat up a lot (ours do I guess), you get some free heat from them :D
Hahaha not here this time with the neighbors with the house in the forest. But today it is literally like 18 degreees celsius warmer here and I can immediately see it in the gas so that feels a bit better today

The pictures are amazing! The shapes made by the snow almost ice in the plants is pretty cool. That’s a whole new landscape currently for me, and it bring some kind of fresh air to my mind, because in my city is extremely warm right now! Thanks for that!
