Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 217

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

Welcome to the 217th round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

Important note: I have been hosting this challenge in the same format for almost 4 years but I recently decided to introduce some major changes to it so please read all the updates below. The essence of this challenge stays the same though so the intro part will be the same as it was before.

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

HERE COME THE UPDATES

Originally, the prizes for the winners were just my full upvotes given to their entries but since, unfortunately, I lately had to power down significantly, my upvotes are not that big and motivating anymore so I decided to reward the winners of each round with additional 1.5 Hive each. So now, the winners get my full upvotes on their entries plus 1.5 Hive each. All of the other valid entries will be rewarded with some smaller (usually 50%) upvotes too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement in this challenge.

In the past, I usually hosted this challenge on Thursday but because of the reasons described below, I cannot guarantee that anymore so now, I may roll out the new round on Thursday, Friday or even Saturday so if you guys don´t want to miss out on the fun here, please check out my blog regularly.

Also, in the past, I always tried to lead by example and thus open each new round with my own fresh natural photo taken during the previous 7 days. However, as you might now from my recent posts, me and my wife are now taking care of our newborn baby and it takes just so much time and energy that I simply don´t have the time to go out and take fresh natural photos anymore (btw late autumn and winter here in Central Europe are not favorable seasons for natural photography anyway) so instead, I will be using my old photos from cool natural places around the world that I have been to. Hopefully, in a few months, I will be able to go out to nature regularly again and take a nice fresh picture for each round just like I did it over the years but before that happens, I will show you some beautiful natural places that I got to see during our travels. It will also be a nice way for me to remember and relive those moments from the times when it was just me and my wife, traveling around the world - happy, young and free :)

THE RULES

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than 7 days.

Add a few lines about the photo (at least 50 words) including the date and location.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here under this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvotes on their entries and send them 1.5 Hive each as the prize. The winning entries will be featured in the next round of the challenge. I also give smaller upvotes on the other valid entries as I mentioned before.

So that´s it. Let me now open the new round of my photography challenge called Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

We are back to summer like weather here in Czechia, trees have their leaves back, lush greenery all around out there in nature. I do have some fresh natural pictures that I could use to open the new rounds of this challenge but my Hive time has been even scarcer now than ever before and I haven´t been able to find the little time slot needed to rewrite the intro part of this challenge so I will just stick to what is says now and that is that I open the new rounds with "memory shots". Here is another one. Taken on the amazing but wild and remote beach called Praia do Viola on the Sao Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal. It takes a pretty steep and not exactly safe hike down there from the nearby volcanic cliffs but it´s totally worth it. When we visited this beautiful beach, we were literally the only people down there :) Oh yeah, sweet Azorean memories...

In the last round of this challenge, we had 6 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

@stayoutoftherz with this entry from Austria:

BgxWBRxjvNho1d5owNvLc9kLkZETgqoQLu9zcBbNBbDDEp9W4DbuZJuhPcssZTHpTGfP4AEAwdqLdgNtEiyTXDTHif9Dr5Gk5tSBVEZTHXeq6JYYigERBdPWPzQbovufrjQDQcoNmKRr8PEE6bFAh5smHQ1VoxjMEighSgoUMFzANhk.jpg

A wild flowering Salvia pratensis (meadow sage) near my home (Vienna, Austria). It is related to the common sage, one of the most important herbs (and already known by the old Romans). I like to stroll through the meadows nearby, you can always find new gems. Photo taken last Friday.

@godfish with this entry from Czechia:

I won't reveal where exactly this picture was taken, because it's too close to my mom's cottage. Let's just say that the nearest brewery is in Kostelec nad Černými Lesy (Czechia). The woods aren't as dark as they used to be when the town got its name (nad Černými lesy literally means upon the black forests – they were so dense it was dark in there), but some parts are still pretty wild for the Central European standards :) Photo taken this afternoon.

@pardinus with this entry from Portugal:

Finally joining again! I managed to do a quick weekend getaway, and visited some natural areas in the south of the country, near Faro, Portugal; one of them has a linear trail, called Ludo trail, passing through it... And this is how the scenery looks in the golden hour. How lucky are the folks at walking distance of this gem?

Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries and send 1.5 Hive each, you can check that out in your wallets :)

I am looking forward to what you all will come up with in this round :) Have fun everyone and don´t forget to... Appreciate Beauty of Nature!

Manzanitas or cherry apple is located at the front of our house. Time captured: 11:00 am. Date: May 4, 2024.

While reading your blog, this picture comes to my mind. Since this picture was freshly photographed today. The purpose of this picture was to create content about the memory within this tree. The fruit was commonly the food for the birds. The tree is endemic here in the Philippines. The taste of the fruit is sweet. Most of the children loved to get this fruit because of the flavor. The tree produces lots of fruits also. Even I, an adult, still love to eat Manzanitas. Good evening.

Nature have from time immemorial provided man with abundance of mineral resources. From the hill top of Ikot Ekpene in the raffia city to the valley of Okuiboku in Itu local government of Akwa Ibom State, and the oil rich city of Eket in Nigeria lies abundant of Palm trees that dots everywhere. Palm tree is an economic tree in which every part of it is considered money - the tree is use for roofing, the leaves use for local roofing sheet and broom, the fruit itself is use for palm oil which is one indispensable incredient for daily cooking, soap making and for export among other uses both locally and internationally.
I hereby present my picture showing the palm-trees along with cassava stems to you in the contest for you perusal.
The picture is taken by me with my android Huawei phone at Ikot Ekwere Itam, Itu local government.

This photo was taken three days ago, 1st May 2024. It is a photo captured by the water side of a once beautiful community called Enerhen. Sadly, not much is left of it.

I love to come here whenever I visit the market to purchase perishables.

It use to be my safe place as the flow of the River was highly therapeutic for me.

It was a real delight getting to the River bank and seeing tiny fishes swim back and forth in a school but right now, I don’t get to see that anymore as the River bank is currently being used as site for refuse dump.

The stench from the place is so pungent that I can’t bare to be there for long.

Now I just get my perishables and hurry out of the market as the whole place stinks.

I do hope for a leadership that would transform the community to where it ought to be, a state of the art beauty.

So sad to see this place in such conditions and learn how beautiful it once was :( When it comes environmental efforts and nature protection, Africa still has a long journey ahead. I hope this place will be nice and clean again one day. Thanks for your entry!

I send you my best regards from Romania and I am glad to be here again with a new entry.

We had a few days of holiday in Istanbul, where I tried to make the most of every day I spent there.

Unfortunately, the weather didn't hold out much for me and on top of that, there were protests in Taksim Square on May 1, so I missed more than half a day because of that, yes, I know, I could have re-planned that day, but unfortunately, even if I did, I had no public transport, the trams were stopped all day and the taxi option was very expensive.

So today I share with you the picture I took on May 29, 2024 exactly the day I arrived there.

The photo was taken in Gülhane Park in Istanbul's Eminönü district.

I´m sorry to hear about the troubles that you had on your vacation in Turkey, that sucks, especially if you only had a few days over there :( But obviously, you still managed to visit some really nice places like the one that you just showed us in your entry. Thank you!

Despite the events there, I managed to visit a lot of fantastic places and I really like to talk about the beautiful things in a country and less about the negative things.

The beauty of the places I visited in my short visit there made me completely forget about anything negative.

I can't wait to share with you the places I visited but they still have to wait because I have other posts in the works with equally beautiful and interesting places.

For me today was the first day of work, we Orthodox celebrated Easter so we had a mini holiday including Monday.

Greetings friend it is true the internet is full of perfect photos to me although I like photography I'm just an amateur who walks with his phone capturing images, I love especially the natural spaces.

In my country began the winter season something that nature is grateful, this morning I went out to the garden flowers are beautiful, I love to see how the water runs and how the drops look, so I did not hesitate to find my phone and take the picture I hope you like my flower at this time I do not remember the name

My mother is of Andean origin, she was born in Táchira Capacho, a formerly rural area that has had recent urban development.

She usually has in her garden at home in a building she brought an area to plant of a medium size enough to plant.

There is, among others, the aromatic plant OREGANO whose leaves are used to season food and if it is on the window, its smell scares away flies, which has proven to be effective, since my mother gave me an oregano plant that I brought it to my house in MARIPERES.

There we are relatively close to the Ávila mountain and there at certain times there is an increase in beetles as well as this ASIAN GARDEN BEETLE, which although it is not usually a problem but you have to be careful because it eats plants.

So I took this beautiful photo where you can see my very useful OREGANO plant, which has significantly reduced the presence of flies and also serves to season my meals. This plant is cared for by my daughters who water it daily and this beautiful beetle.

Another very interesting entry, thank you! I know that the Andes are home to some amazing insect species. When we visited Colombia, for example, we saw many of these giant rhinoceros beetles :)

Since the weather doesn’t seem to be in favour of taking new astonishing pictures outside, I have to submit one of the shots I took last Wednesday in Kunratický les in the south of Prague. Believe it or not, it only takes a few minute-walk from the nearest metro station to get there. However, the forest is quite large, you could fit a village in it. Or an early 15th century castle and a herd of mouflon :)

Věřím, byl jsem tam kdysi na houbách :) V posledních letech to ale bohužel nejsou houby, co tenhle kout Prahy dostává na titulní stránky novin :/ Fotka každopádně pěkná, díky za ni.
