Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 168

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

Welcome to the 168th round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than one week.

Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.

I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)

To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:

So far, May has been a very enjoyable month. It´s already pretty warm but not too hot yet, the days are getting really long and we have been getting a decent amount of sunshine too. The perfect weather for enjoying the outdoors. When shooting for this challenge, I usually try to avoid having any traces of civilization in my photos to keep them 100% natural but I made a little exception this time. Yes, you can see some tiny silhouettes of the city (it´s the Pankrac neighborhood) in the background but the rest of picture is nothing but beautiful and wild nature that can be found in the Prokop Valley, one of my favorite natural places here in Prague, Czech Republic. I took this photo on a lovely afternoon a couple of days ago.

In the last round, we had 7 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

@trangbaby with this entry from Australia:

Nice photo @phortun and congrats all winners !! Melbourne started getting cold last weekend, and I feel like winter is just around the corner. I'm glad I was able to visit Bright last week. It is well-known for its picturesque landscape, making it a very popular autumn destination. The view was taken on the way from Melbourne to Bright in Australia.

@nenio with this entry from Chile:

cormorants-lightpoles-001.jpg

This week I do not share a landscape (or seascape). The photo shows how wild life coexists with civilization. You can see the cormorants perched on light poles. Behind them the skyline of the city of Antofagasta (Chile) and behind it, the silhouettes of the mountains located at the east.

@jlinaresp with this entry from Venezuela:

Hello @phortun friend! I'm here again! ;) My congratulations to the winners @onlavu, @xaviduran and @sodom-lv!!! Great shots!!! Here is my entry to Round 167. Title: "The road, the fog and the morning." Taken on 02-May-2023 on a rural road west of Montalbán, Carabobo (Venezuela). A place where sunrises can be visually interesting, with fog, light, vegetation and "roads" (I love photographing the roads ;)

Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)

I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.

Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!

I post this series in the Amazing Nature community, a great community for all nature lovers. Feel free to check it out ;)

I've always been amazed at how green and beautiful the landscape is in that part of the world. I have an aunt that has visited the Romania/Croatia/Turkey area and she always talks about how beautiful it is. I'd love to see it one day.

This is my submission for the week. I took this photo last Friday as I was walking into my office. These trees are so beautiful this time of year, but the put off a smell that makes me sick to my stomach. It's like a heavy bleach or fish smell. It's hard to explain. It's interesting the contrast between how pretty they are versus how horrible they smell! I'm always happy when the blooms finally fall off because then I can walk to my office in peace. Still a little sad that I won't get to see the awesome snowy petals until the next Spring though.

Hey there buddy, good to see you here again :) That´s a very interesting entry! I zoomed in on the trees but I don´t know what species it is. And the smell that you described is not familiar to me either. Really interesting. If you ever find out what they are, please let me know ;) Btw the location is Michigan, right?

Oh yeah sorry. A small town on the east coast of Michigan. I'll try to get a closer pic of them sometime.

Great photos as usual and congrats to winners. Man it’s been a while I contributed and that’s mostly because I’m not out in the open much recently. Looking to see if I can squeeze in a walk or something one of these days. I’ll add one or two photos if I make the walk.

Here my entry to Round 168!

Phortun.jpg

Title: "Yes, it's a Guanaco!"
Guanacos (Also called "Llamas") are not the kind of animals I expect to see when I go for a walk in the fields around a nearby town... In fact, this is the first one I've seen outside of a zoo in my country... But there is one, grazing peacefully in a field surrounded by trees and mountains! :)... This photo was taken in Aguirre (Carabobo State, Venezuela) on May 9, 2023.

Wow! A llama! We saw some in Bogota but they were more like tourist attractions there, not wild living animals. Must have been a very special moment for you :) Thanks for sharing it with us my fiend!

So this is my first time joining you guys over here.

This picture was taken when i joined my friend to go inspect the land that he wants to purchase, I looked at how fresh these plants were and I felt so bad for them, in a months or two they will be sent out of this world for humans to build on this same spot were they existed. so sad.

This picture was taken on the 7th of May 2023 in a small town name Igbodo of Edo State, Nigeria.

Hi Tammy! Welcome to the challenge :) This is a very nice entry and I love all the lush greenery and it´s indeed very sad that it will be soon destroyed to make room for some buildings :( I hope they will spare the palms at least...

Here's my entry, taken 5 days ago. It's a rapeseed flower plant before loosing all its petals. What I really like are those sublime sunshines cought in the landscape, on the blue sky background.

Have a cool weekend @phortun! ☺️

My pleasure. I almost missed the rapeseed field this year as we were pretty sick and wasnt in the mood to go and take some shots. 🙄

Fun fact: rapeseed fields have got a very negative connotation here in my country in the recent years as a lot of them belong to our former prime minister who is also an oligarch, billionaire and convicted fraudster. The rapeseed fields are thus perceived as one of the symbols of his empire built through corruption and frauds. Poor rapeseed :D

Well, this is indeed kind of funny!😆 I just posted a whole bunch of rapeseed photos a few minutes ago.
Now maybe all Czeck people on hive will hate me too for my very bright post 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, I saw that, no worries, we know that it´s not the poor plant´s fault ;) Rapeseed fields are actually very photogenic, I liked that post ;)

Agree being very photogenic! I love the landscape of a rapeseed field and the sky up high! 💙💛
Have a lovely week, friend!

Today is a hot day. 5h45am and the run already rose very high.
I ran in the same park as last week but I changed the running route.
And luckily I could see a rainbow on a sunny day. It surprised me much because I only see a rainbow after the rain or on a cloudy day

Location - Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam
Device - Pixel 3

A rainbow on a sunny day? That´s very strange indeed. There probably was some little "local" rain somewhere nearby because from my understanding of physics, there cannot be any rainbow without water droplets :) Anyway, cool entry, thanks!

I can't help but be part of round 168 especially since it has as its main idea Appreciate Beauty of Nature.
The photo was taken a few days ago near the area where I live, I was out for a walk with my dog, I found it very interesting the contrast between the raw green of nature and the heavy clouds that were forecast to come over the village and of course there was a big storm brewing.
I was lucky that I was in the car shortly after I took the picture and it started raining in gusts.
