Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 159

avatar

Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!

Welcome to the 159th round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than one week.

Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.

I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)

To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:

It seems that what we call the "April weather" has arrived earlier this year as we have been "enjoying" these random mixtures of rain, snow, wind and sunshine in the past few days. Unfortunately, the sunshine part has been the rarest one so most of the time, the sky is cloudy and there something falling down from it :D :/ Last Sunday, I headed out to the Prokop Valley again here in Prague, Czech Republic but instead of going down to the bottom of the valley where I usually go, I climbed up to the edges and I captured this landscape shot from up there. As you can see, the slopes are pretty steep. The light conditions were really bad and I had to edit the picture a lot to make it lighter and more recognizable but maybe even like that, you can still see how beautiful the place can be when the vegetation is green and soaked with the sunlight...

In the last round, we had 6 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

@xaviduran with this entry from Spain:

Hi @phortun. Today I'm contributing to this edition of the challenge you organise with a photo of last Sunday's outing. Last week we had very bad weather in Ibiza (Spain), cold and rainy, it even snowed in the north of the island, but on Sunday it was sunny and this allowed us to do our weekly walk through the Ibicencan countryside. This time my wife and the boy chose to do the outing through the centre of the island, an area completely off the beaten tourist track, and without really knowing the way we discovered some really beautiful spots. Here is a sample of the island's countryside in this winter light after several days of rain. Camera: Fujifilm X-T2. Lens: Fujinon 18-55 f:2.8-4. Processed with Capture One.

@godfish with this entry from Austria:

Hey mate! This photo was taken several days ago in the Alps in Styria, Austria. I happen to know the exact GPS coordinates: 47°21'44.347"N, 13°43'53.125"E. The captured peak is Krahbergzinken. Unlike many other mountains in the area, Krahbergzinken has no ski slopes.

@jasonmunapasee with this entry from Indonesia:

You choose very extraordinary pictures about nature. And below is my entry this time. This is a very beautiful white butterfly on top of a flower in the forest and this flower is one of the beetle's favorite flowers in the forest. And we also know that beetles are flower lovers and they take advantage of flower essences or pollen to spread kindness to other plants. I took this butterfly picture around where I live, namely North Aceh, Indonesia on February 28, 2023.

Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)

I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.

Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!

I post this series in the Amazing Nature community, a great community for all nature lovers. Feel free to check it out ;)

The weather has been hot lately in my part of the world (Nigeria). I have been outdoor getting fresh air under this tree 🌲. This is a type of nature I admire as well , when the wind blow, the trees attract a special fresh air . I have been here for an hour, just stumbled upon this post and thought of sharing this nature with you all. I wouldn't know if it meets the criteria anyway...I just took the picture few minutes ago

There surely is some form of nature in this picture and you also mentioned where and when you took it so all criteria are met, no worries ;)

Thank you very much for choosing my post.
This is my next entry.

I again showed my friends here the pictures I took on March 8, 2023, and I again took pictures of the butterflies I saw in the area where I live.

I took this picture on the side of the road when I was walking in the evening, because I saw this very beautiful butterfly perched on a wild flower by the side of the road, so I was immediately interested in taking some pictures.
And this is where I took the picture, namely Indonesia. The village of Blang, North Aceh, Syamtalira Aron sub-district.
See here where I took the picture

I have to admit that my entry today is not one of the best or appropriate, but I want to tell you that in Romania on March 8 we celebrate Mother's Day, on this day, we men offer flowers to all the women in our lives (here we can also mention other ladies from work or other important ladies for us).
This picture was taken on March 8th in the office where I work with a lady(by the way, the flowers are hers) hehe

I think you meant Women´s Day but it´s ok :D We celebrate this special day too. Thanks for this creative entry!

Glad you liked it, and yes, you're right the holiday is called Women's Day, but we were going through a communist period 30 years ago when it was called Mother's Day and for me it stayed that way, hehe.
In our country, these special flowers are mainly given to mothers, followed by the rest of the ladies in our lives.
Unfortunately, since 2011 I no longer have someone to give a flower to because the most beautiful flower in my life, my mother, is no longer with us.

(Edited)

Are you sure about it? We actually have both of these: the Women´s Day (celebrated on 8 March) and the Mother´s Day (celebrated on second Sunday of May). And yes, we were under the communist regime too...

Yes, I'm sure, that's what this holiday was called during the communist period.
During the communist period, even Santa Claus was called differently here in Romania, that name has no English translation.

Thanks buddy :) Actually, today, the weather was even crazier... I got drenched many times but enjoyed a decent share of sun and wind too. Early spring comes with some extremely changeable weather here.

Here my entry to round 159!

Title: "Landscape with Bucares"
Today I went for a walk through the fields surrounding the town, we are still in the dry season, but some mornings begin to have hazy skies and light drizzles fall... I came across this beautiful landscape with Bucare trees (the big ones on the right, full of orange flowers)... So, I took this photo registering the rest of the environment.
Location: "Agua de Obispo", Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela.

This is my first time joining something like this. I took this photo two days ago from our jackfruit tree. It was a pupa, and I have no idea when the butterfly will come out. But, I know it'll be beautiful. Look how strong the pupa stuck into the branch. Amazing nature.

Hello Amazing Nature friends. I'm so glad to be part of this contest and this is my first time here.

IMG_20230228_162841_628.jpg
Location what3words
On my way back from work on Tuesday, I stopped by my parents house to see them and drop some things I bought for them like I usually do. When I got there, mom was seated at the front of the house under this beautiful mango tree with my little niece. I joined her there and we started chatting. As we were talking, my little niece called my attention and pointed to this bird, a pigeon, that was perched on one of the mango's branches and said "Aunty Bird, Snap snap.
Immediately I took my phone and snapped it then showed it to her and she was overjoyed.
Mom then said that the pigeon usually brings food to its mate that was caring for her eggs and that each time my niece sees it, she will be calling anyone around to snap it for her.
I'm glad I snapped it that day to put smiles on her face, and today it's put smiles on my own face too because it has become my contest picture.
Thank you.

Hey there, welcome to the challenge! That´s a nice picture with a lovely story behind it, thanks for sharing all of it with us :) The location app just doesn´t seem to work for me but it´s enough if you just confirm that the photo was taken in Nigeria (I can see in your profile bio that you are from Nigeria...)

Oh, sorry about the location app. It's What3words that I used and yes I am from Nigeria. My town is Aba, Abia State.
I took the picture with my Infinix Hot 10i.
Thank you.

Hi!
After a long hiatus, I'm entering your competition again, and surprisingly it won't be a photo from our pond :-)

Today (March 11, 2023) I took a short trip to the valley of the Černá (Black) River near the South Bohemian town of Kaplice.
I was mainly interested in the rocks found in this valley. I am submitting a photo of a rock formation to the competition.
It looks like the spruce is "holding" the whole rock from falling :-)

Living in the desert, I am not feeling well for two weeks but I managed to visit my garden, give them water so they could give me flowers. I am successful and so happy looking my gumamela flower's bloom. It colors my morning and my whole day. It made me smile.

Well, I have so many nature photos taken these last few days, I really dont know what photo to share. 🙈🙈🤔🤣😪😪 I am so hard at making decisions...

There's been a lot of hiking yesterday and today and I am so happy and grateful I had this time in nature.

This is not my favorite photo,at all. but its something to reflect our time outdoors, hiking. We went to a lake and had to walk or hike through this forest.
There was a road but we chose to hike. We thought we'll buy some time because hiking was a bit shorter than the road. And yet, the hike was steep and there's been a lot of workout included. 😆
The photo is taken in the forests near the Lake Saint Anne, in Harghita, Romania.
