While Others Are Sleeping...

I have mentioned in my previous posts that we had a long heatwave in our area with daily temperatures over 30 Degrees Celsius for almost a month! It doesn't get better during the nights when it goes to 24-25 Degrees and not lower than that... And that temperature last probably for 2-3 hours, or so...

01.jpg

As I like my daily walks, and I don't like to sweat and breathe heavily while I'm doing them, I was experimenting with hours to take these walks... The easiest hours were in the evening, which I was practicing in the fall and winter when days are shorter... So, I did try it recently, but it didn't work... Even around 9-10 PM, the temperature would stay high, with all the concrete and asphalt releasing the heat accumulated during the day... And I don't want to mention the humidity, which is known to go up to 90% which is insane!

02.jpg

So, the only logical hours were early in the morning... I do go to bed almost every night after 1-2 AM, and it's not that easy to get up early... lol... So, the last few days, I was trying to "cheat" my body clock, by getting up a couple of minutes earlier, every next day...

03.jpg

Today, I awakened around 6, and got up around 6:30, which was the August record! 😃 As we in Spain should be in the same time zone as Portugal (but we aren't), the sunrise comes a bit later than in other countries... The first photo was taken around 7:30, the moment when we left the car and went for a walk around the edge of Altea town...

04.jpg

As I don't like to go back on the same road, I try to "invent" circular paths for my daily walks, so we began this walk in a long street/road that will take us out to the fields and gardens...

05.jpg

This part of the street is interesting as houses are very close to the road... Which is cool because you have these interesting narrow hallways... This one caught my attention as the sun was shining right through it and it looks like a night lamp is shining from the back part...

06.jpg

07.jpg

I don't know how many little churches there are in Altea, but there are a lot... In Spanish, they call them "ermitas", and sometimes they are in the middle of a field, or between two gardens... I suppose that those places had a completely different meaning BEFORE the big expansion of the town...

08.jpg

09.jpg

10.jpg

Slowly, as we are walking further, the houses are disappearing and the trees are taking over... In the above photo, you can see the 500+ year-old Pine tree... If it could talk, how much history it would be able to tell us...

11.jpg

12.jpg

Along with pine trees, you can find a lot of olives, almonds, carob trees...

13.jpg

14.jpg

As we walked up on the hill for some time, the moment of going down came... But before doing that, look at these magnificent views of the area, bathed by the morning sun! I didn't expect that these 2 photos would look this amazing!

15.jpg

16.jpg

This is the place where two rivers are kissing and turning into one... River Algar and river Guadalest, but they are doing it very discreetly, somewhere hidden in the cane... What you can see in the photo above is a small artificial pond created from the water from the river(s)...

17.jpg

18.jpg

Not sure if you can spot them, but there are dozens of swallows on these 3 electric cables...

19.jpg

Appreciate the reminder, Mrs. Bee!

20.jpg

21.jpg

Perfectly fitted net to protect the medlar fruits from birds, hailstorms, and other harmful events...

22.jpg

... and right behind that one, an abandoned field with destroyed nets in the past...

23.jpg

These guys were protecting their garden by barking as much as they could... lol...

24.jpg

25.jpg

26.jpg

27.jpg

I have spotted this horseman (or in our case, horsewoman) too late, so I have just this one photo of it!

28.jpg

29.jpg

30.jpg

...and we are slowly getting back to civilization after an hour and a half walk... After doing under an hour's walk, maybe this wasn't the best decision to take, but OK... In total, this route is 8.5 km long! My legs are still hurting, but it will get better with more training in the next day...

Btw, The last photo was taken around 9 AM, The sun was already high, and the temperature was almost at 30, the perfect time to hit the beach and jump into the sea to cool off!

Thank you for your time,

~ph~

Thank you! Going out for a walk early in the morning was the only solution these days... I hope that the temperatures will go down at least 4-5 Degrees in a week or two... Until then, early walks every day! 😃

Well done… getting up so early.
I always have trouble getting up early hahaha as I go to bed late too.
But I soooo understand. You need too, to get out and have a nice walk.

I am so happy with 16 degrees here. I must say the humidity is 92% with no rain.
I am not used to it yet. Will take a while I guess.

Great walk and you saw a lot.
Love the bee 🐝 reminder hehehe 🤭 so true.
Thanks for sharing your early… early walk.
Have a good evening 👋🏻😊

Wow! I'm jealous at those 26 degrees, but not that much about that 92 % humidity, and I suppose occasional rains... 😃

Going out early is nice, but the problem is going to bed late... Trying to work on that, but as you can see by the time that I write this, I'm failing... lol... 😃

I can imagine 😉
It does rain almost every day… with dry spots in between. Seems like we have no summer this year.
The weather is weird everywhere. Not as we used to.

Yep… I soooo know. I always go late to bed, I am no morning person hahaha 🤣

The hot conditions are going on here in Multan for the last three months and I myself go to beautiful places every day in the morning, there is a cool breeze and there are many natural sights to see. If they meet, then the rest of the day passes well, all these places are looking very beautiful.

That's the best feeling... When you get that morning breeze, charge your batteries to survive what comes in the afternoon!

The same heatwave almost for a month here, and there has been an on-going wildfire in our neighbour, Greece. It has started in the northwest of Turkiye, Çanakkale. Hope the weather will become cool after September.

We, in Spain, were "lucky" this year with wildfire as we didn't have any major ones like in previous years... I hope it will stay like that... I hope that the heatwave will pass in the next week or two!

I think it would be nice for you to sleep earlier instead of sleeping by 1:00-2:00AM. I'm glad you enjoyed the walk and your pictures look nice too

I agree with you, but some late tasks that I'm doing late at night can't be done earlier... Luckily, the heatwave will pass soon and I will be able to go for a walk at different times... ;)

Thank you! Yeah, those nasty Spanish dogs like to bark as crazy... lol... While we were passing by, I was double-checking if there was a hole in the fence... 😂

It must not be easy to go out in the heat. But early in the morning, it is not only cooler, but you have a beautiful light for the photos.

I hope you enjoyed the dip in the sea after this pleasant walk:)

Those two photos of the landscape were great... The rest, not that much... I will try to do better next time... :)

Oh, after the long walk, the best thing you can do is to take a dip in the sea... :)

I used to go to bed at 1-2 am. But when I began to get up for a morning walk at 7 am, my body was already asking to sleep at 11 pm.

It happens the same to me too... I try to do some power-naps in the afternoon and that helps...

It is true that many people are sleeping in the morning, but those who get used to waking up in the morning and fall in love with the natural view of the morning, then the human eye itself opens the way we are seeing. All these sights are so beautiful that I myself get up at the same time and go for a walk almost every day.

Morning walks are the best! The sun is perfect, temperature and humidity great, no doubt... :)

Early mornings and walks are the best... it's also a case of where time seems to slow down because you have an additional hour or two... more bang for your buck!

Heheheh... Indeed, summer with longer daylight is like you said... More bang for your buck!😃

Wow! You like in a beautiful place, look at those hills in the background.

We have similar temperatures around in my area but I will call it cooler as it can go in 40's in June/July so it's been cooling off gradually day by day.

Some of the photos are so stunning, I mean look at this photo. Wow!

(Can't believed I was not following you for such long time... time to amend it...lol)

Thank you so much for your kind words! That area is really beautiful and I was lucky when I took that specific photo... It was in the morning with perfect "sun setup" 😃

Huh, 40 Degrees is a lot! I struggle with 34-35, can't imagine having 40's for multiple days in a row!
