Summer is Coming- Palm Trees Reaching for the Sun

IMG_20250521_141622199.jpg

Today marks the time of year when we see 100 degrees fahrenheit and above for the next four months. Yesterday was the last day we had in the 90s, and I will be spending most of my Summer inside. The UV and raw heat make it a stunning but inhospitable environment populated by lizards which I hope to capture in my photography. Geckos love this weather and climb buildings.

I love seeing trimmed palm trees like these, but many died last year as the temperature made our ground unbearable for them. We lost a palm tree and had it cut out. The root ball disintegrated in the soil and made fertile ground for a fruit tree. I was happy about that.

I sincerely hope it is a good and safe Summer. These palms are hard to trim and are reaching for the Sun heartily. We have so many of them, and some people despise them for their nuisance ability to drop seedlings and debris everywhere. They are surprisingly resilient in storms, which we have plenty of in the Summer.

Drop a comment if you can relate. What is your take on palm trees?
