As says, ''Exercise is to the body while reading is to the mind''.
I like reading motivational works, on leadership, life, spirituality, and other motivating work or text that will build, stir up something valuable in my life for the world to see. I, personally, read books for my leadership development, which is self development or improvement. My motivational books must center on me being able to lead myself first before I could lead others. This is my motivation and inspiration.
Secondly, I read books to develop my speaking skills in terms of sentence constructions, new vocabulary words and other entries. Reading wide has a way of learning or discovering new ideas about something, I have never known before. Reading keeps my mind current, and it takes away insecurities, and brings in freedom to express myself at any point.
Motivational books are texts I love reading most, like:
Dr. Myles Munroe - The power of Character in Leadership.
Brain Tracy -The power of Self-discipline- No excuses!
Joyce Meyer - Never give up.
Joel Osteen - Your best life now.
Books on marriage, crucial, because I want to build a good marriage.
Therefore, I will be specific with the one I'm reading now, which is written by Dr. Myles Munroe, titled: The Power of Character in Leadership.
Reading this book makes me understand that the acceptable components of leadership are not about academy affiliation, affluence, power, intellectual superiority, notoriety. However, It is Character. Many leaders today, failed in their place of assignments because they do not have a strong character to protect their leadership. While reading this text I discovered that, Character in Leadership will help me to succeed, carry out my purpose, goals, and visions of my life.
By God's Grace, I have read from chapter 1 to 2. There is something so profound I have seen in chapter 2 of this book. It is leaders of conviction. This teaches me that, solid conviction makes a good leader and good followers.
In this era, we rarely have leaders of conviction. They are always vacillating to please their friends or family, which is not proper and it is not leadership.
This is the reason leadership begins with self development. As a leader. I have learned a lot about leadership.
I should be able to lead myself before leading others.
Reading motivational books put me in shape and mold me to be a better leader in my church, marriage, school, and many other places assigned to me by purpose and vision.
