Today I share with you a short passage of scripture that emphasizes the importance of humility, realistic self-evaluation, and collaboration within the Christian community, recognizing that each person has a unique but equally valuable role in the body of Christ.

I say, therefore, by the grace given to me, to each one who is among you, that he should not think of himself more highly than he ought to have, but that he should think of himself wisely, according to the measure of faith that he has. God distributed to each one. For just as in one body we have many members, but not all the members have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and all members one of another.

Romans 12:3-5

Paul begins by saying that by the grace given to him, he is giving advice to each individual in the community. This advice is that no one should think more highly of themselves than they should. In other words, Paul is warning against arrogance or conceit. Instead, he urges believers to think sanely about themselves—that is, to have a balanced and realistic assessment of their own abilities, gifts, and limitations.

Paul compares the diversity of roles and functions within the human body with the diversity of gifts and abilities within the Christian community. Just as a human body is made up of many members, each with a specific function, the Christian community is made up of many people with different gifts and abilities. However, despite these differences, they are all part of one body in Christ.

This analogy highlights the importance of unity and interdependence within the Christian community. Although each person has different gifts and abilities, they are all necessary and complementary to each other. No member is more important than another, and all must work together in harmony for the well-being and growth of the community.

Buenas tardes queridos amigos, que Dios les bendiga.
Hoy les comparto un pequeño pasaje de las sagradas escrituras donde se enfatiza la importancia de la humildad, la autoevaluación realista y la colaboración dentro de la comunidad cristiana, reconociendo que cada persona tiene un papel único pero igualmente valioso en el cuerpo de Cristo.

Digo, pues, por la gracia que me es dada, a cada cual que está entre vosotros, que no tenga más alto concepto de sí que el que debe tener, sino que piense de sí con cordura, conforme a la medida de fe que Dios repartió a cada uno. Porque de la manera que en un cuerpo tenemos muchos miembros, pero no todos los miembros tienen la misma función, así nosotros, siendo muchos, somos un cuerpo en Cristo, y todos miembros los unos de los otros.

Pablo comienza diciendo que por la gracia que le ha sido dada, está dando un consejo a cada individuo en la comunidad. Este consejo es que nadie debe tener un concepto de sí mismo más alto de lo que debería tener. En otras palabras, Pablo está advirtiendo contra la arrogancia o la vanidad. En lugar de eso, insta a los creyentes a pensar con cordura sobre sí mismos, es decir, tener una evaluación equilibrada y realista de sus propias habilidades, dones y limitaciones.

Pablo compara la diversidad de roles y funciones dentro del cuerpo humano con la diversidad de dones y habilidades dentro de la comunidad cristiana. Al igual que un cuerpo humano está formado por muchos miembros, cada uno con una función específica, la comunidad cristiana está formada por muchas personas con diferentes dones y habilidades. Sin embargo, a pesar de estas diferencias, todos forman parte de un solo cuerpo en Cristo.

Esta analogía resalta la importancia de la unidad y la interdependencia dentro de la comunidad cristiana.
