Every Space matters

It is very important to plan before engaging in something. Every space matters. It is important to always seek professional advice and see the possible future before building. A waste space is a waste money

I went to a friend's new apartment that he got. He has been pestering me to pay him a visit after relocation from the mainland to the Island, Lekki to be specific. Which is a geographical location in Lagos Nigeria. The building was good and neat so i decided to look around the compound.

My greatest shock is an abandoned swimming pool. The first questions that popped into my mind was.

  1. Why will the house owner build what he cannot maintain?

  2. Why not use that space for something more beneficial? Probably trees where one can relax.

  3. Is showing off or copying others his motive?

  4. Is he not aware that this space will breed mosquitoes and other disease causing organisms

  5. Did he know that very soon the place will become smelly?

  6. What is the future plan for this abandoned swimming pool space?

... These and more are the questions that came to my head.

In conclusion, if you know you wont need something don't buy or build it no matter how rich you are.

Wow. I can't imagine having the money (and time!) to build a whole in-ground swimming pool and then just ...giving up?
Maybe the house was sold and the new owner just hasn't gotten around to cleaning up the pool yet?

Wow.. yes - one of the verses in the Bible that always comes to my mind for things like this... "count the cost"

the FULL cost!

It's not worth it to go into something halfway!! it always ends up hurting you more in the end!

Too bad that whole pool is going to become an eyesore soon!

Since this post has a bit more meat to it than your actifit posts - i'm going to share it on DreemPort and hopefully you'll get some visits from Dreemers in the next few days. I'm actually going to make it a Featured Post - so hopefully you'll get some love and meet new people! :)

That's terrible. I don't understand why exactly the house owner left the pool till it got into such a deplorable state. I wouldn't know what type of vain life that is being pursued to warrant this but it's sad really.

It is a shame, while some are looking for space to lay their heads. Others are wasting the space with funds attached.

Unequal life

See the way I'm feeling it and I wasn't the one there

Sometimes I think it's only me that sees things like swimming pool in a house as waste of resources 😤

It's well with him ooo!

You might be right when you said he is copying someone...all these fake life things. See now that place has become a dump site...very sad

My goodness! What surprises me is how nylons are in the abandoned pool. Is it wind that led them there or the tenants intentionally threw them in? I doubt if the landlord has visited his property the past 1 year and if not, the tenants should at least inform him about the condition of the place.

Every tenants most times don't really care about what does not benefit them. As for the nylon it is the wind

This is just so crazy honestly, how can you build what you can’t maintain in the first place, at some point this is going to be a big problem to those living in the compound, sometimes most landowners need to be seated down and educated on how to maintain a house, it is just so ridiculous to build a pool and you abandon it, who asked you to do such in the first place, I guess he wanted to copy the trend and got lost, I strongly agree with your conclusion man, too much wealth will make one build nonsense…

That doesn't look fine. If they can maintain it, I advise they drain the water out and allow it dry instead of keeping the dirt. It's indeed a waste of space.

It's good to plan before you jump into action. I believe the space can still be renovated and put to good use. Nice writeup👍 #dreemerforlife

Such a nice pool but it's being treated like trash, people are already dumping waste into it.

You are right, if we can't maintain something, it's best we don't start it. He should have used the space and money he used to build the pool for something else.

I really don't like it when people end up show off and end up wasting resources. I mean why start when you know you won't see it till the end.

I hope the landlord eventually do something about it.

Thank you for sharing. #dreemerforlife

This is such a waste of space and resources. Seriously, these questions you raised has to be asked because there is no point getting something that won't be of use.

The pool is obviously a waste of resources and I would rather have a bunch of trees there than a dysfunctional swimming pool like that.

It's such a pleasure to find this post on DreemPort. Welcome to the Dreemie adventure.

Smh... this really looks so unkempt. Why build something you can't maintain? Just looking at it almost made me puke. It will be a miracle if it is not smelly already.

Hello dearest fashionable dreemer. Happy new working week to you. Monday is here again with so much to do as usual, but I hope you won't let the workload overwhelm you. Smile, laugh, and let positive energy radiate from you. I waltzed in from #dreemport, for I am an amazing #dreemer. An awesomely made #dreemerforlife.

Damn... I can understand if he doesn't want a pool anymore. But then, like you said, he could have repurposed the space for other things like trees rather than leave it to be a health hazard.

Wasting resources and space isn't a great idea no matter how rich someone maybe. It's always better to plan do what one needs without necessarily wasting resources

Some people do not actually think of the future before embarking on a project of their own. Since this has happened, he could at least rebuild the pool for something else that would be beneficial instead of leaving it like that which could breed mosquitoes and thereby causing illnesses for those around.

Swimming pools can be very expensive to maintain. Perhaps the residents can pool their money (s'cuse the pun! haha) and pay a monthly stipend to get it back to its former glory and re-opened as a facility for all of them to use? I would have thought that in Nigeria a pool would be a huge attraction! Something completely beside your point drew my attention though - the assertion that Nigeria has an island... wow! I had no idea. I looked it up on wiki and I see it is more of a peninsula but would be an island but for a very narrow strip of land adjoining the mainland... much like The Isle of Skye here in the UK. Still called an Isle albeit technically part of the mainland. It was really interesting to read up on this huge Nigerian development and the new Free Trade Zones on the island. I learned something new today. Thank you! !PIZZA !ALIVE

Lekki oh my it has been years since I was there! Many moons ago.
Yeah wastefulness, having too much can lead to neglect and a safety hazard for starters!

Much better than an actifit post hehe.
Popped in today from #dreemport, yes I used to work in Africa and I have been to Lagos a few times.

Sometimes we make decisions without properly thinking of the future. That space is obviously in waste.

Awesomeness pazartesi!

Sometimes, I wonder what was their interior motive when building this pool... I think it was a short term plan knowing fully well that a building like this is for a long term asset so it should have been same for the pool area.

Maybe he has other plans who knows lol...as a Nigerian that I am, we all know how home owners want to do whatever they want. He would have at least build mini stores for rent! That would be a great plan for that space!

I came in all the way from dreemport and yes we meet again lol! I see you have lots of actifit contents on your blog more than random contents! Something like this more would be appealing for readers on hive! Keep it up!

At times, people do things because they feel that Mr A is doing it so I have to do it to be "among," not know that management is the most important thing a man needs in their life.
