Historical billboards and banners
Billboards, signboards, important signs. They've been around forever. I picked three from my photos.
The first one attracts coachmen (defacto drivers) for a beer and a sip of liquor. Something unheard of nowadays, but probably quite common two hundred years ago. After all, a good horse will reach the finish line even with a "tired" coachman. And history repeats itself - today we have cars with autonomous driving, which can hopefully cope even if the driver falls asleep.
Billboardy, vývěsní štíty, důležité nápisy. Ty tu byly od věků. Vybral jsem ze svých fotek tři.
Ten první láká kočí, povozníky a formany (tedy defacto řidiče) na pivo a hlt kořalky. V dnešní době něco neslýchaného, ale před dvěma sty lety asi celkem obvyklé. Ostatně, dobrý kůň dojede do cíle i s "unaveným" kočím. A historie se opakuje - dnes už máme automobily s autonomním řízením, které si snad poradí, i když řidič usne.

The second inscription invites us to the house of God.
In the year of our Lord 1636, the 12th of September. I was glad when they said to me: Let us go to the house of the Lord. Psalm121
A little note: if you want to check the psalm, it's number 122. It's not a mistake, the numbering has changed over time.
Druhý nápis nás zve do domu Božího.
Léta Páně 1636 dne 12. září. Rozveselil jsem se v těch věcech, které jsou pověděny mně: do domu Páně půjdeme. Žalm 121.
Drobná poznámka: kdybyste si ten žalm chtěli ověřit, má číslo 122. Není to chyba, číslování se časem měnilo.

The third inscription is from the government office, of course.
No one shall be read or written to until paid in advance with cash.
The inscription is from the office of the Provincial Records, in the historical areas of Prague Castle. Since the Middle Ages, the office has given nothing to anyone for free.
Třetí nápis je z úřadu, jak jinak.
Žádnému nebude nic čteno ani psáno, leč bude prve hotovými penězi zaplaceno.
Nápis je z úřadu zemských desek, v historických prostorách Pražského hradu. Už od středověku úřad nedal nikomu nic zadarmo.
