Road trip thoughts

I've been on the road for just on two weeks now, travelling through some of the more remote parts of Western Australia. I've got a series of blog posts coming with some details and photo stories from my travels, but for now here are some quick thoughts of my trip so far

I've driven a total of 7000kms (about 4300 miles) without passing through the same town twice, about 1/4 of those kilometres have been either on dirt roads or mud tracks. We had some unseasonable rain and overcast weather which really threw a spanner in the works for my trip. It meant that many of the gorges I intended on visiting were far too dangerous to enter due to the risk of flash flooding. I also wasn't able to put the drone up as much as I wanted to.

I've had quite a few commercial photography shoots for my hotel and tour clients, which has made the trip possible, so I'm very happy with that. I don't normally do food photography, but many of the hotels have restaurants so I've been asked by my clients to photograph their menus (free feeds afterwards yay!), which has been fun to do something different.

Keep in mind that I've not really processed these images yet, they will get processed and cleaned up properly once I arrive home, where I can work on my large colour calibrated screen.

I did a quick side trip to a place called Marble Bar, which holds some sort of Guiness World Record for being the hottest place in Australia... it wasn't hot when I was there, so I'm grateful for that.

Anyway, I'll have some more stories from the trip and far more photos after I get home. I'm about 1800kms from home at the moment and will be heading there this weekend!

Hope you enjoyed the photos so far!
