The animals on my small farm
On my small family property, as on all properties in the area, there are animals that make our lives easier and serve various purposes. Personally, as a nature lover, they are indispensable to me, which is why there are different species, some in small spaces, others in larger ones. Here are a few of them. I should point out that all the photos were taken with my Samsung A20 cell phone.
This is Nero, the leader of the pack of four dogs that guard and accompany us, especially the poultry, which they keep safe from opossums and snakes that are common in the area but are kept away by the dogs' barking and teeth, thanks to their natural survival instinct. I'm not saying that they keep us safe from thieves, because since I was 8 years old, no other thief has appeared in the village.
This is Tobias, a cat that showed up very small in the area and we adopted him. I guess from his appearance that he has some Siamese ancestry. He is very mischievous but loving, and although he has tried to catch some of the birds that sing in the trees, he has not been able to, but he has caught the occasional mouse that has dared to enter the place.
Let me introduce you to Lucas, the oldest duck around and therefore the most spoiled. Together with others, he is in charge of stepping on the females so that they lay the delicious eggs we eat. If you've never eaten them, I recommend you try them.
This pair are a rooster and a hen from among several on the property, but these are the daring ones that leave the yard and go into the room where various things are stored.
And finally, this is one of the two horses we have that help us with farm work, not only for transportation but also for other tasks.
We also have a goat, a donkey, a curlew, a common bird around here that is very noisy, some pigs, and other creatures.
