Getaria in Guipúzcoa

In a previous post, I told you about Guetaria, specifically the Church of Sal Salvador, located in that town, and now I bring you more photos of the same town but from other places there.
While researching, I learned that this town is famous for its history related to whaling and for being the birthplace of Juan Sebastián Elcano, the first man to circumnavigate the globe. The famous fashion designer Cristóbal Balenciaga was also born there.

It is a place that retains the magical atmosphere of the Spanish towns of the Basque Country, and its people are friendly and accustomed to dealing with visitors.
We have much to learn from this attitude in order to develop strong tourism in our country, which also has beautiful places, even if they are not as old.

The town has two distinct areas: a medieval walled old town with cobbled streets and monuments such as the church I mentioned in my previous post and the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum, and a more modern area with 20th-century buildings.
During our brief stay, I enjoyed some delicious grilled fish, but I don't remember the name of it as it's not similar to any fish we have here.

My uncle, who visits frequently because it is on his work route, told me about the exquisite white wine called Getariako Txakolina in their language and the zeal of its inhabitants for their customs and the preservation of their historical memory.

I loved this and other villages in the area, which I will tell you about later, because one thing I loved was that my uncle travels to many villages north of Madrid for his work.
