The picture you see shows large, specially designed stones placed in front of the large harbor. These stones were placed here for protection. This is Amasra district of Bartın, my birthplace. When I came to my hometown for the holiday, I noticed that the stones had been multiplied and slightly enlarged.

The Black Sea has very rough waves, especially during the autumn and winter months. The place in the picture is known as Amasra Great Harbor. We used to swim in the sea there as children, in an area the locals call the breakwater. Swimming is currently prohibited there. If these stones hadn't been placed here, the waves would have directly hit the breakwater and damaged it over time. These types of protective blocks were placed in the Amasra breakwater to protect it from the Black Sea's rough waves.

Coming back to my birthplace was more than just a trip; it brought back memories of my childhood and the longing I feel for it. The places I visited and saw brought back vivid memories, both good and bad, from my childhood. Amasra is a small fishing town. Besides its historical and natural beauty, it's one of the rare holiday destinations that stands out with its sea, its people, and its regional cultural understanding. During the holiday, I took a short tour of Amasra and its surroundings. Despite all the years that have passed, seeing the same houses, the same businesses, and the same historical buildings in some streets and neighborhoods made me feel a little sad, but also happy.

I started my tour of Amasra at the historic Amasra Castle. This magnificent structure, standing for centuries, is not just made of old stones. Countless stories and memories have accumulated among these stones. Amasra Castle is a historical site built on a mountainside, consisting of ancient building stones. Inside the castle, there are old two or three-story houses. You reach the castle by walking uphill through narrow and winding streets. In the steep streets, there are accommodation options, mostly guesthouses, for visitors to Amasra. Even those who own houses here rent out their rooms to tourists. While climbing to the castle, you can see the sea from different directions. From a distance, the castle seems to be in the middle of the sea. In fact, you can reach the sea by walking a little behind some houses or mosques and finding a path leading to it.

From the top of the castle, we can clearly see both the large harbor and the beach. The castle is built on a hillside, with high walls made of ancient stones. There is a narrow walkway in front of the castle. As we walk along this path, we see the city center and the lively atmosphere of the beach. The greenery clinging to the walls of this historical structure also blends nature and history. From the very top of the castle, the endless blue of the Black Sea, Amasra's beach, and all the beauty of the harbors are at your feet. Every time I look at this view, I understand better why I am so attached to this land and why I feel such a deep longing for it.

During my visit, I noticed that many new houses and guesthouses had opened inside the castle. I was pleased that the narrow, cobblestone streets were untouched. The traditional houses, small souvenir shops, colorful cafes, and friendly people added a special charm to my trip. The town was quite crowded due to the holiday. I can say that there was some congestion in the narrow streets at times. The streets were filled with the sounds of children. Even this crowd didn't detract from the overall beauty of Amasra.

Gezi sırasında kalenin içinde birçok yeni evlerin ve yeni pansiyonların açıldığını fark ettim. O dar döşemeli taşlarına dokunulmamış olması beni sevindirdi. Geleneksel evler, küçük hediyelik eşya dükkanları, renkli kafeler ve güler yüzlü insanların oluşu gezime ayrı bir güzellik kattı. Bayram dolasıyısyla kasaba oldukça kalabalıktı. O dar sokaklarda zaman zaman sıkısıklık oldu diyebilirim. Sokaklar çocuk sesleriyle dolmuştu. Bu kalabalık bile Amasra'nın tüm güzelliğini etkilemiyordu.

During my visit, the scent of iodine and seaweed wafting from the sea, reaching all the way into the castle, made me feel the atmosphere of the Black Sea, while the flowers adorning the historic stone walls and the lush green nature added a unique beauty to this unforgettable view. The seagulls soaring over Rabbit Island, standing majestically directly opposite me, created some of the most beautiful and unforgettable moments of my trip.

Although I was a little tired after my approximately 10 km walk, my soul felt more at ease than ever before. Because the most beautiful and longest journeys are not those we take physically, but those we take with our hearts and souls. For me, Amasra was not just the city where I was born, but a home where my memories accumulated in every street and neighborhood, where I began to discover love and tolerance. During this trip, I understood that no matter where people live, they always keep the memories of their birthplace in a corner of their hearts.

Walking through the historic streets of Amasra and seeing how the places have changed over the years both excited and saddened me. But the best part was seeing my childhood friends again and chatting with them; it made me very happy. Perhaps our hair has turned gray, but the fact that we haven't forgotten each other in our hearts is more valuable than anything else. Seeing that this friendship continues with the same warmth gave me great happiness and peace.
