Portuguese getaways

It has been a long time, but better late than never: another weekend getaway! It feels like mini vacations, since there's a holiday on Monday, so an extra day to enjoy our destiny. And given the lack of decent vacation time this year, they feel even better.

As if the surroundings weren't enough, the airbnb my friends booked is simply stunning; just look at the view! Facing the water, with lounge chairs, and even an outdoor jacuzzi!

The little village is a known place in the center of Portugal, and what it lacks in points of interest compensates with the atmosphere that surrounds it. It's called Dornes, and I have yet to do a decent exploration. Not that it will take a lot of time, since the village itself is tiny.

If you know a little bit of me by now, you probably guessed that I'm far more interested in the whereabouts and the nature here. And one of the house's gates goes straight to a nature trail. So hopefully there will be tons of exploring tomorrow. Given that near sunset I saw my first ever wild otters almost in front of the house, I have hopes to see them again and maybe get lucky enough to get them on camera!

But even if they don't appear again and the weather decides to continue grumpy, I will be enjoying this.

Christmas spirit is already lurking in, and the views surrounding the village are beautiful in any weather.

That and a group of cool people to enjoy meals, strengthen friendships, and have some laughs: there's not that much more to ask for, is it?

Fingers crossed that I'll have a ton of wildlife photos tomorrow, even if it's just my usual fathered friends. If not... well, I know where will I drown my sorrows.
