Appreciating Medellín buildings // Visual Shots Contest

Welcome to my blog. I extend to you a cordial greeting. On this occasion I present a series of photographs that correspond to my participation in the contest on photos of buildings in the Visual Shots Community. Before I present my photos, I tell you that taking pictures of buildings is very interesting because when we look at the urban landscape we find buildings of different shapes and heights, modern and old, residential, corporate, governmental, religious, educational, commercial, among others. I say among others, because there are also museums, theaters, hotels, in short, this diversity in the type of buildings offers us a lot to photograph.

In my case, I have been living in Medellin for a year now, a city that is still new to me and every time I go out I am fascinated because it is a very modern city. Now, I ask a question: What is it that makes us think that a city is modern or not? Well, its buildings. So, the architecture and urban planning of a city is no small thing. But it strikes me that this city also has a lot of old architecture that also gives beauty to Medellín. To make this urban contrast between my photos, I wanted to highlight a very striking building that I saw a few weeks ago in the city, which is an example of modern and unusual architecture for me and also other photos of buildings with old architecture.

Bienvenidos a mi blog. Les extiendo un cordial saludo. En esta ocasión les presento una serie de fotografías que corresponden a mi participación al concurso sobre fotos de edificios en la Comunidad Visual Shots. Antes de presentarles mis fotos, les digo que hacer fotografía de edificios resulta muy interesante porque cuando miramos el paisaje urbano nos encontramos con edificios de distintas formas y alturas, modernos y antiguos, residenciales, corporativos, gubernamentales, religiosos, educativos, comerciales, entre otros. Digo entre otros, porque también están los museos, los teatros, los hoteles, en fin, esta diversidad en los tipo de edificaciones nos ofrece mucho que fotografiar.

En mi caso, estoy viviendo hace en un año en Medellín, una ciudad que sigue siendo nueva para mí y cada vez que salgo quedo fascinada porque es una ciudad muy moderna. Ahora, hago una pregunta. ¿Qué es lo que hace que pensemos que una ciudad sea moderna o no? Pues sus edificios. Así que, no es poca cosa la arquitectura y planeación urbana de una ciudad. Pero me llama la atención, que esta ciudad tiene también mucha arquitectura antigua que también le da belleza a Medellín. Para hacer este contraste urbano entre mis fotos, quise resaltar un edificio muy llamativo que vi hace unas semanas en la ciudad, lo que es un ejemplo de arquitectura moderna y poco común para mí y también otras fotos de edificios con arquitectura antigua.
