We went out before the rain came down.

Some lovely scenes here, as I like to take photos just before the rain arrives.

The one thing that I don't like is that during a rainy power cut, I have to stay inside the house.

The advancing clouds are always beautiful, and I often get some terrific scenes. I also often get terrifically wet :)
But such is life if you don't grab the opportunities, then you will simply lose out. It is never easy in the strong winds, as they carry huge clouds on their way inland and yesterday 4 people died in the Eastern Cape province due to floods. I read that more than 1000 people lost their homes.
So, this advancing storm had a savage beauty about it.
Come and see.

This is a closer picture of the photo above and I will gently lead you into the rain here with the photos below.

The high palms danced roughly to and fro in the wind.

This photo below is more to the southern side of the mountain range, and you can see the foothills.

Here below is a sight of what was coming, and I took the shot towards the north.
036.JPG

This is the worry about the winds here, as this palm tree was blowing in a different direction. So we have a main wind, with many cross winds that create a real melee in the sky.

The first sign of a dark cloud entered the scene over the mountain range in the east.

Things were rapidly darkening, and you can see the difference between this photo below and the first photo.

Hola! I have learned my lesson about not getting wet and it was time to go.
169.JPG

Thankfully the outing cut some time off the power cut period and there was only 30 minutes to wait when we got home for the lights to come back on.
This is the way that I spend the two daily power cuts, and the two evening ones, I can do nothing about. But we have some re-chargeable lamps and we use the lamps to read during the dark hours. After so many power cuts, we have a changed lifestyle by force and it is never pleasant to think how the people that live in shacks suffer with no power and families to bath and feed.

It is said that two businesses benefit greatly from the power cuts, and they are the takeaway food businesses and the solar installation companies.
People that work the regular 5 to 9pm office hours, have no time to cook for their families when a power cut starts at 6pm, and they have two choices. Wait for the power cut time to be over with hungry kids screaming in their ears or grab some take aways on the way home from work. Then you get people like me, as though I don't work regular hours, I simply don't eat take aways. Even if I worked regular hours, I would still not eat take away food. Many are the times that I went to bed hungry, but it was good training.
Such is life!

I hope that you enjoyed the story and the pictures.

Take away food has become extremely expensive of late! Homemade has always been my game, saving rather than buying in.

I feel so sorry for those who cannot food at all, too many are going to bed without a say in the matter being hungry.

Oh yeah, you know all about it Lady Joan. Homemade is healthy and one can control the costs.

Desperate times for them and yes, it is indeed heartbreaking. Many of the kids have their only meal for the day from our school feeding partnership. No child should have to suffer like this!

When you prepared to peel, chop and cook I am still able to serve a full meal in under R200 for 5 adults, buy two large pizza it costs more than that!

I still get annoyed seeing so many with so little yet too many have babies!

!LUV the little ones enough to know the suffering they never asked for.

Oh yes, a bit of work can create big savings and it is healthier.

The old belief that having many kids are riches is still alive, but with the expenses these days it might slowly change.

A sad tale methinks. !LUV

Four siblings had nine children between them. Now three have of the nine have five, slowly number diminishes. Many we know cannot see a future and wisely opt not to procreate, hardly able to house themselves.

!LUV is knowing when not to procreate even in the animal kingdom.

Well at least the numbers keep on dropping, as I remember the times when some farmers had 14 children. The days of big families are slowly drawing to an end.

My problem is with the hit and run males as soon as they find out that the girlfriend is pregnant. Fatherless children numbers have grown ten fold in numbers.

!LUV and the animal kingdom is more clever than us!

No TV, no birth control, no electricity, needed many little helping hands running a farm in the future !LOLZ

A spectacle where the clouds are certainly the protagonists of the photos, all highlighting without distracting us from the main motif of your lens.

Thank you and yes, the clouds certainly form a catalyst towards the character of the photos, and it fits in well with greater scheme of things.
