Waiting for dinner.
They always arrive 5 minutes early for their food.

And they don't have watches to tell the time, as they come around at the same time every day.
I love to sit and watch our guests when they arrive to come and eat their food. We try to alternate their food with avocados three times per week and nuts four times. Today they had peanuts on the menu, and they are really cute little critters. Our strawberry guava tree has buds and when the fruits start to ripen then that tree is alive with squirrels and birds. So alive that we have to hurry to get a few of the fruits to make a jam.
Come and see some action.
She thinks that if she cannot see me, then I can't see her:)
But at least I get an occasional peep from her.
She was watching another squirrel as he approached.
Shame, 5 minutes is a long time to wait.
We call him Shabby, as he likes to dig around on the river banks.
He dug into the peanuts, and his lower regions were covered with mud.
Happily eating away at the nuts. They don't only take one, as they can take three at a time, and sometimes even four nuts in their mouths.
He wanted to greet me here, but it wasn't an easy pose.
Finally, our little Laughing Dove had also eaten and she was thirsty, as usual. We split the peanuts into smaller pieces for the small doves to eat, as the whole peanuts are too big for them to swallow.
The wife bought this little doggie water bowl for the birds and the squirrels to drink.
Cool water on a hot day, as the wife puts the water out every time when she feeds, for the birds and the squirrels to drink.
We no longer have a bird bath here, as we have to watch out for the domestic cats. The cats used to hide close to the bird bath in order to catch the little birds when they came in to bath. If you ever want to see squirrels wrestle and chase each other around, then just put out a few handfuls of peanuts and watch the action. They are extremely fast and very athletic, as they can climb a tree in the blink of an eye, and even faster when another squirrel is on its tail.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
