The Protea flowers love the weather.
Especially when there is snow on our mountain peaks. So, I have taken some random shots on the weekend to show you some lovely sights. You will see mountains, clouds and flowers.
This is what they call a Pincushion (Leucospermum cordifolium) flower slowly starting to bloom and in the Spring season they have many sunbird visitors.
But let me show you the snow first and now don't laugh, as we don't get much snow here on the extreme southern tip of the African continent. Let me hasten to say that a bit further inland on the other mountains it looks like Disney world with deep snow all around.
However down here everyone gets excited when they see this. Now let me tell you that the snow is cold, but the strong icy winds here can bite one's nose off.
3 photos below of the snow.
Some more Pincushion youngsters.
The Malachite Sunbird on the yellow flower of a Krantz aloe, he also looked like he was getting cold.
And here below is the star of the show! It is a young King Protea (Protea cynaroides) and it is a most beautiful flower.
Look how these little Daisy like flowers refused to open in the cold.
The sun desperately tried to break through, but no go.
Darkening rapidly on our way home.
And there you have it, a friendly reminder to all of my European friends that your winter season is not far off and before you know it, we will be seeing many pictures with real snow again. Our winter season has another month to go, and then the Spring season will start. I cannot wait to see all of the new life during spring and the apples are going to be extra special at the next harvest, as the apple trees had a very deep sleep due to the extra cold. Thankfully the warmer days will also be a boost to the people that sleep in the streets and those in the shacks with their families.
Such is life.
I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.
And That's All Friends.

At the first, I thought it was strawberry 😅
I can only smile at your comment, as my wife said the same. She also thought that with a quick look it is a strawberry. !LOLZ

Oh yeah, we also love the pincushions and sadly we do not have the space to grow one here at home.
Snow and cold are related and the only thing that I dislike is a runny nose !LOLZ
!LUV and I will not tell you to enjoy your power cut!

Travel from Strand up to Port Elizabeth on old road years ago one turned a corner looking up a valley filled to the brim in the pin cushion, variety/colour was one etched to memory.
