Some summer fun.
Lovely hot days that we are having nowadays, but thankfully not yet into the late 30-40 degrees Celsius yet. A cool and mild wind from the Atlantic Ocean direction also helps to make things very pleasant.
Yay! Something was enjoying itself in the children's playground.
We visited a local public park on the weekend and there was a nursery school for young children next to the park. The school was closed and the little squirrel had the playground to itself. Maybe he or she was scouting the playground to see if it will be safe to bring their own children to come and play here on the weekends when the school is closed :)
In any case, I will explain a bit later about our reason for visiting the park. Let's just have a look at the squirrel first.
I fetched him on the zoom, as you can see him on the blue tire in the center right of the picture.
Almost as if he was watching me and posing for me.
But I was sure that he couldn't see me as I was behind the school fence.
Here's the reason why we came to the park.
The Imibala Trust is one of the non-profits that Papillon partners with and they were here to test the possibility of selling the handicrafts that the children made in the art classes at the Imibala school.
They had a good setup at the park as you can see below.
And thank goodness that people took an interest in the children's arty crafts.
My wife went over to buy some stuff in support of the venture, and we will soon hear if the effort was successful.
Here is some more info about the Imibala art classes, so you are welcome to visit whenever you are in the region.
The Creative and Performing Arts Department brings smiles and excitement each week to the children arriving for lessons in art, pottery, drama, music and ballet.
There are currently learners from 10 schools participating in these programmes. The majority of classes take place after school from 14h30 until 16h00. Visitors are always welcome.
And now for something else back home.
Ever seen a gecko growing heads at each end?
Only joking as the top part is only the start of the growth of its new tail.
We have some birds here that hunt the geckos, and many of the little geckos shed their tails for the birds to grab, in order for the geckos to get away.
Here below is another one and you can see that its new tail is growing.
Then we had a couple of ringneck doves sitting on a streetlamp across the road.
I could only get the one taking off, as the other one went straight down.
And finally, just another day in paradise.
Our days now are mostly making sure that the needs of our partner nonprofits are met, as a range of parties is being planned by them, and the first photos of the parties that the Papillon board chairlady arranged are coming in. We work mostly by supplying food vouchers for the party eats and a lot of the elderly, including women and especially children benefit from our united efforts. This was my dream, as during the years before we moved down here, we used to do it alone at Papillon.
Although we did well in those days, I just felt that we could do so much better if we united with other forces, and thankfully it happened when we moved down here. Not easy I know, as people are very protective of their own efforts, but once one or two entities joined with us, it started greater things happening. So more joined in, but it's still not enough and we will keep on banging away.
Paradise was not designed for only the elite to enjoy, as it was meant for everyone to enjoy, and if we can help to bring this about, then so be it.
Such is life.
I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

The squirrel was looking for a place for her children. To bring them to play.
Exactly and I said this in the post.
All of us should visit such places because our lives are going on in a lot of trouble these days. There are many relaxations.
Nature, for me is the best place to be in order to unwind and to charge my batteries.
