Some stunning landscapes...

...as I felt mother nature calling me to show me some beauties.
055.jpg

It was 10am in the morning and the show started, so we were a bit late, but still, it was a great show.

All of the shots in here were taken towards the east, and the wind was blowing from the north to the south along the top of the mountain range. Yes, it requires a lot of patience to get views like this, as one has to wait for the views to change, and luckily not a strong wind was blowing.
Almost like a slow stage performance, and it all flowed along the mountain peaks.

The sun rises from the east behind the mountains, and then it sets in the ocean opposite to the mountains. I have done a few posts over time of sunsets in the ocean, but they are better for photos during summer, and we are in winter now. In any case, winter has some spectacular sunrises, especially when there are clouds around, and this was such a day. So, the performance started and please come and watch the show.

This was what things looked like when we left from our house, and when I saw this, I just knew that there would be great views at the mountains.

A closer shot of the first picture.

Yeah, one can see here how the clouds travelled along towards the right-hand side on the mountains.

I just had to snap the flock of birds that was flying inland over the mountain peaks.

Different cloud formations were appearing all of the time.

And then it was time for us to leave, as we had some work waiting for us.

Even if we had much damage here with the floods and the storms, the good thing is that our dams are slowly filling up. Especially as the weather forecasters reckon that we have to prepare for a dry and very hot summer. It is the very hot that troubles me, as the African blazing sun can drink tons of water that results in the dam levels dropping at a high rate. South Africa is a water scarce country, and some years ago, the Cape was at day zero, meaning that there was no water. Thankfully a miracle occurred, and rain started to fall.

The things that trouble me is that summer is an ideal time to shore up the defences against floods that arrive in winter, and somehow, we just can't get it right. There are many reasons for this, but even then, some drastic changes have to be made. Great news is that the river that runs through our town now has been tamed, and we thus far had no floods. A few years ago, it was a different story, as the water streaming down the mountains into the river created some severe floods here. I only hope that we will get some great things done this summer to prevent the floods in the other areas.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Gorgeous views and captures Zac. It reminds me of the haar rolling in off the sea, which you can see moving before your eyes and blotting out the landscape lol!

Nature does it again.

Thank you Ed, and to me "haar" is a Dutch word meaning hair? Did you mean fog, or mist? Oh now, I forget, you are a Scot, and you guys have a language that is very difficult to understand !LOL

Nature always does it my friend :)

At a glance one can see how green in winter the Cape is after all the rains and flooding again.

We were blessed with a few drops of rain yesterday to wash the air and plants once more, it was needed.

Snake Lily starting to appear from beneath the soil, very early, weather will confuse nature, she will adjust as always. !LUV

Oh yeah, nature is as confused as we all are. But one can only accept it and do one's best.

Like a real stage act, when one watches the slow rolling action of the clouds down the mountain.
