Some Crow fun and a Starling lunch.

She bought a takeaway meal and just finished eating when lover boy arrived.
018 (2).jpg

There was a park opposite the shopping center and I was sitting in the car.
Let's watch a pair of Pied Crows (Corvus albus) playing the mating game.

Fun is all around us knocking on the door of our minds and asking to enter. Normally most of us do not open the door, as our minds are engaged in other activities or interests. But for stressless sake, a pun on the for Pete's sake saying, it is so good for our health to allow entry for fun and it's cousin called humor.
So I wish all of you a happy and peaceful Wednesday.
Come and watch the love story!

Very swanky this guy and he dropped his tail to show her the goods:)
028 (2).JPG

So they completed the mating ritual by circling each other.
001 (2).JPG

As she waited for him to mount, junior arrived! What game are you two playing? Can I also play? So the game was over.
060 (2).JPG

With a huff and puff lover boy left without even saying goodbye:)
086.JPG

The love story of the crows ended abruptly and I want to show you a Red-winged Starling (Onychognathus mario) in action below.
Now how's this for a fast-food self-help service?

This was the starling's arrival.
106.JPG

Very fussy it hopped around to find a ripe berry.
124.JPG

Popped the berry into its stomach and took off again.
134.JPG

I was sitting in the car waiting for my wife and took all of the photos from the car. This is why I like waiting for madam when shopping needs are done, as I forever have my camera ready for a mental adventure.
Luckily today the crows played the aborted mating game and the starling was the cherry on the cake, or should that be on the tree?
My fun was also spoiled as it would have been the first time for me to get a pair of mating crows on camera, but such is life and I was happy that I could at least get some of the action.

I hope that you liked the stories and the pictures.

And That's All Friends.

The story is lovely, junior should not see the other side that's why the gentle man left for peace to reign. I know he will not be happy at all. On a second thought maybe he Is the real owner of the house and the other man just came to show off.

We all need to chill of our mind.

Thanks for sharing the amazing pictures

Hahaha, I like your idea and yes, it is quite possible, but in this case, I think that the younger guy was family, as if he was a stranger the crow would attack him !LOL

I love that "love story" of crows. It is really funny when observing birds, they have their own life and rituals, but on other hand they also live like we live, need a friends, look after their families. Usually we see birds flying away but this one is going away, so cool!

Oh yes, this one is a real cool dude. Very similar to our human lives and systems, as nature also has its communities that act exactly the same as we do.

I love crows as they are super intelligent and knew a tame one who had a huge vocabulary.

Me too and I don't know if you saw my story about the hiding that I got because of a clever crow?
We visited an aunt in another town and as the aunt were doing the dishes, she took her wedding rings off and put them on the windowsill. So the rings disappeared ans as I was the only boy around, the fingers pointed me as the thief. The aunt carried on so much that mom packed up and we left.
Back at home my mom took a strap and she beat me almost senseless because I have damaged her family's name.

So a month or so later the aunt phoned my mom. She said that the crow that live in a tree in their backyard died and that her husband found her rings in the crow's nest.
To this day I still wonder why her husband looked in the crow's nest. Maybe they cut the tree down, but since my aunt's call my mother never spoke to her again.

Such is life at times :)

Sad story that. I was watching cricket on TV overseas when a seagull dropped down on a window ledge in a high rise and stole someone's dentures. They were in a glass of water and must have looked interesting. Crows are known to like anything shiny so rings would definitely be a target.

This is so funny and we both laughed as I shared it with Marian. So I suppose the person had to sip soup every day until a new set was made :)

Btw. We went out to Meerlust today and sadly there was no restaurant. I did manage to get some photos though and will post them soon. These power cuts are real problem now, as they don't keep us informed and we had a sudden surge from stage 2 to stage 3 today.
Last night it caught us at 12pm and switched the PCs off, but thankfully they still work.

The power cuts are not helping as we are on one now until 10.30pm. The washing machine blew 2 days ago and it is now the control panel so I guess load shedding had something to do with that and now the garage door has come of it's rails and is propped up with a tool box making me do MacGyver stunts to slide underneath to turn the generator on and off each time.
I look forward to seeing the Meerlust photos as I have forgotten what it even looks like it was so long ago.

Bad news these powercuts and some in Marian's family has also had issues. They say that you can claim for the washing machine if a technician can determine that the damage was caused by the power cuts. Best that you connect the generator on auto start and stop in the case of powercuts. We are out tomorrow from 8am and if we are on stage 3 then we will have another one later in the day.
Not much to see at Meerlust, as I took most of the photos inside the wine tasting centre.
They run a promotional TV show in there and I snapped some of the screens.
But it was a great drive and I stopped often to take landscape and bird shots.

Cheers !PIZZA and good night for now my friend.

Zac!

Nope, but no need to as I knew that she made a mistake, like we all do and so I forgave her.

Forgiveness like respect seems to have grown in unpopularity over the years my friend. Nowadays it is all about greed, selfishness and attacks 😰

True, but I don't think it's improved anything. Is that really what we call progress?

Nope! We should rather call it regress and the result is all of the destruction that we see now.

he dropped his tail to show her the goods:)

Hahaha! Love this! And the way he walked off, really does look like he is in a huff. Dang it! I can't do this with you watching kid! Little did he know, the kid wasn't the only audience 😋

Crows have a bad reputation, but I think they are wonderful.

Your shots of the starling are great! Especially the first one!

Just a bit of clowning around and yes, that guy is a real gentleman methinks. I would advise him to close the door when he wants to do things 😛

Tests have shown their intelligence and owls also have a bad rap in some communities, but we like everything in nature as it all forms an integral part of the eco system.

Thank you and glad that you also liked the starling.

What a catch! :)

The crow pics...

I'm busy with @wrestlingdesires Let Our Picture Tell Your Story - Edition 31 and followed a link here, read this... and am SO glad I did.

I reckon lover boy was just after the free KFC. #justsaying

I'm not sure anyone can beat this. Because truth is always stranger more brilliant than fiction.

Ah yes, he is a good friend of mine.

Had lover boy tried to make a move for the KFC , that stint of his would have been stopped immediately, as an angry crow female is not to tango with. So he spun a pick up line to lure her away from the goods :)
But yeah, the youngster spoiled his show.

So many are allergic to the truth and they just don't understand that the truth is all that there is.

I saw that you are also a Saffer and welcome.

Here's a !PIZZA for you.

A hungry female anything is not to be tangled with.

There is only truth.

Everything else is avoidance / addiction and all of the pain and mess that come with both ❤️

Just the general manner of the species from Mars :)

The only way to be, but sadly we were given choices and most of us have a love for making the wrong choices repetitively.
I read an interesting research result that reckons up to 90% of people have false profiles in the IT world, as they present themselves as how they would like to be.

Any case, we have a power cut at 10pm and I bid you a good night!

Ah. Eishkom.

They still haven't worked out how to keep the coal dry? Remember that excuse when this first happened ten years ago? 🙄

It must suck working for Eskom. Shame.

Watch out for those generalizations.

Some of us are from Neptune and you'll give the game away.

Funny. People do that in real life just as much. It's just easier to do online, i guess. Less effort and you don't have to lie as effectively.

But seriously... that study could work in reverse. For introverts it probably does.

People can also feel safer online to be themselves. Even if their external presentation isn't them.

Which makes a person wonder what is authenticity anyway?

Is it in how we present ourselves physically or who we are when our guard is down and we feel safe to express ourselves honestly.

ps don't believe everything those researchers tell you!

Yep, I remember the wet coal issue and so many other excuses, but one can only hope that someday they will get things right.

Hahaha, it was just a tease and I think that there are many other planets of origin in the story.
To be is to be as you are and anything else added on is a falsehood. But yes one can never know if the study was biased and generalization can be dangerous when it comes to the human race.

Is it in how we present ourselves physically or who we are when our guard is down and we feel safe to express ourselves honestly.

This is where one often makes the biggest mistakes as an honest expression is related to trust which is so often shattered by the trusted source.

Hahaha, I definitely don't believe in everything as we live by the 50/50% rule.

Sterling comment as always!

But what is the 50/50 rule? 🤔

Wait to hear the other side of any story before you can determine the truth.
So in the meantime you can believe 50% and once you have heard the other side you can add the other 50% and somewhere down the middle lies the truth.
It works for us. as we hear many stories in the charity fields 😉
