Sheer cuteness in here.

Cuteness of a furry kind and I am sure that you will also enjoy it, as much as we did when I took the photos.
To start with, watch this play.
111.JPG

Shame the double trouble facing the tired mom must have scared her, and another little one was waiting at the side to also get in for some milk.

We also have rock hyraxes further up north in the country, and wherever high rocky ridges appear one would invariably find these little critters. So, I have decided that seeing as it's Sunday, that I will show you a real relaxing post to enjoy.
Come and join us for the show.

So, the mom decided to make a getaway, and she took a left escape :)
081.JPG

And logically triple trouble followed her.
083.JPG

Did you know that Rock Hyraxes are related to Elephants?

The rock hyrax has a pointed head, short neck, and rounded ears. It has long, black whiskers on its muzzle. The rock hyrax has a prominent pair of long, pointed tusk-like upper incisors, which are reminiscent of the elephant, to which the hyrax is distantly related. The fore feet are plantigrade, and the hind feet are semi-digitigrade. The soles of the feet have large, soft pads that are kept moist with sweat-like secretions. In males, the testes are permanently abdominal, another anatomical feature that hyraxes share with elephants and sirenians.

Now here was another cute scene.

The small one was carefully watching for a friendly smile.
121.JPG

But not to be and I liked to watch his back feet.
123.JPG

Yep! ready to sprint to the mom, but no luck yet.
124.JPG

So, the baby tried some cuteness.
126.JPG

128.JPG

Oh, please mommy, you know that I love you. Just a small sip of milk please.
134.JPG

Just as the baby reached the mom, they both looked back, as someone appeared under the car.
137.JPG

It was the dad, and the baby wisely decided not to disturb the mom. The sun was also lighting things up and it was a very peaceful scene.
Daddy knows that mommy is tired, and now he is watching and mommy is resting. And baby follows suit.
052.JPG

Now was that cute or what? I wish my children during their baby days were as docile as that little one in the last picture. But not to be and many early morning hours were spent changing wet nappies and all of the other things that human babies can get up to. I think that in nature it is the same, as tiny little birds scream for food constantly and the poor parents always look worn out. The same with all of the other animals and it is only a baby thing.

Now thankfully my youngest has her own child and so do the other two have their own children, so I am getting my revenge :)
Only joking as we love the lot of them and maybe with a little grace, I will see one of my great grandchildren in the not too far off future. It will be another record bust, as I am the last one alive of my own direct family, and I have not seen my own grandfathers, as they died before I was born. I have had the honor to see and love my grandchildren and it is a real blessing. Just the way that life works sometimes.

I hope that you have enjoyed the pictures.

Thank you Lady Joan, and I took the shots from the balcony of our 2nd floor unit. They are indeed very busy little critters, and I don't blame the mom for making her escape.
Hope that you will have a good new week.

Indeed, and we had a second floor balcony at the apartment. So from there I had a very wide view of the area and also of the car park down below, where I got the dassies on the zoom.
Madam fed the birds on the balcony and the second day, I could manage to feed some brave ones by hand.
It was really a great time,

How cute they are! But I didn't really understand, what kind of animals are these?

Thank you, and the animals are called Rock Hyraxes, because they live in rocky areas.

Those are midget relatives for sure! I've never seen the babies, they are so cute! And no nappies make them even cuter :):)
We used to see many on the rocks in the grounds of a resort on the South Coast, but were nowhere to be seen when we went the last time. We are convinced management must have moved them all as they used to try to come into the units. We missed seeing them though!
I hope you're both having a good Sunday!

Imagine that, midgets related to our African elephants. When you come to Montagu I am sure that you will see the babies, and I think that their parents leave them naked, as the rocks will tear their nappies. Nappies are expensive nowadays :)

My first thought was that they were poisoned there at the South Coast, and I so hope that was not the case. If management did indeed move them, they would have had to move them very far away, as Dassies are known to return to their territories. There are also some on a hill in the Bassonia area of Johannesburg and I got some nice photos of the dassies and some crows eating together, as the residents used to feed them.

Thank you, our Sunday is quiet and peaceful, and we hope that you are also having a good day.
All strength for the new week ahead my friend.

When our kids were babies, we had to take care that we don't forget to take some food with us when we went for a walk with them, because when our daughter got hungry she told it to us very, very loud, so that everyone within the range of a few kilometers could hear it ... and she wouldn't stop shouting before she got something to eat 😂

These are lovely little guys, so cute 😍 I don't think I have ever heard of these lovely animals.

Hahaha, so cute, and her shouts awakened many dozy people. I bet that you gave her some food very quickly 🤣 !LOLZ

Thank you, and they are limited to Africa. Many people here don't like them, as they enter their apartments looking for food. But of course we like them, as they are really cute little critters. 🙂

Cheers and thanks.

All people around were looking as if we would torture our screaming Lea, while Tim was patiently waiting to get fed 😂 !LOLZ

Here everyone would love it if such cute little things came into their home 😍

Shame, you are kind people and at times must have felt embarrassed when people looked at you like as if you are child molesters. I can see you standing there and shyly waving at the people 😜 !LOLZ

Nope, people are scared that they will bite them, but of course we would be very happy if they entered our place. Marian will feed all of them 😉

Cheers and thanks.

Hihi, I can tell you that it was really embarrassing at times when she screamed and we had forgotten to take food with us 😆 !LOLZ

Yep, the might bite if they get scared ... I would bite anyone who scares me, but no one who feeds me 😜

I bet that after those screams you guys learned to first pack her food in before taking her outside for a visit, or a hike 😳 !LOLZ

I don't know who gets more scared, the animals or the people that do not have anything ready to feed them 😜

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, but sometimes we thought that we'd be back long before her feeding time ... big mistake 😂 !LOLZ

Like our cats - when I come home they expect me to feed them some treats, but if I don't have time at once they get mad 😜

And then she will scream your ears off so much that the people will think that you guys are torturing her. Shame, poor little soul 😳 !LOLZ

Oh yeah, cats and kids can get very demanding, and we just have to very humbly serve them with their desires. I remember my 3 kids on the back seat of the car during a long trip. They would also scream that they are hungry, but the best thing is that after they ate, then they would sleep, and we would have a heavenly peace in the car 😄😉😀🙏

Cheers and thanks.

Wow, they're so cute! I've never heard of Rock Hyraxes before, but that's really interesting that they're related to elephants.

Haha, I'm firmly in the process of this right now. My boy is 8 months old, and he is full of energy from the moment he wakes up in the morning, to the second he goes to sleep at night. He has his first cold at the moment but is handling it like a champ, and it's probably the most docile I've ever seen him.

Thank you, it seems that the rock hyraxes are not well known.

Shame, our blessings to your little champ, and we sincerely hope that he will shake the cold off soon to return to his energetic self.
All of the best to you guys.
