Peace and harmony.

Do you think that doves and squirrels can live together in peace?

Look how relaxed this little dove was.

One would expect the dove to fly away, when there was a squirrel around. So, I will show you below what happened.

They are wild, but my wife has the habit of feeding anything that moves, and that's why they hang around here in our front garden. This is one of our smallest doves, the Laughing Dove, and we have found that all of the smaller birds are very brave. The flowerpot is being prepared for the planting of another aloe, but in the meantime the dove regards it as his/her own territory. It is very difficult to establish the gender of the laughing doves as the female and male look the same.
So, come and see.

This is how it started. The squirrel on the left and the dove was walking towards its pot on the right.

You can see that they greeted each other.

Squirrel was eating some avocado, and the dove was on its pot.

Here I thought that the squirrel might jump on to the pot and scare the dove away, but for some reason I think the squirrel knew that the doves do not eat avocado.

So instead, the squirrel approached the wooden trellis pots from the other side, and he left the dove in peace.

The squirrel hopped up onto the trellis pot, and the dove was watching him, but the squirrel went over the pot, on to the other side.

It was so nice to see the harmony that existed at this event as we regularly see the squirrels chasing each other around, but this little one simply left the dove in peace. A great lesson for us in the communities to respect and allow others their own spaces. Lately that is not the case, as just a look at social media will show you how much others disrespect this. I think for instance of the wars that are going on, and it is always heartsore to read that women and children have been killed. Not only that, as there seems to be much discontent in society nowadays. Maybe it was due to the covid epidemic, as a great fear was evoked about one's impending death. But whatever it is, one can see why this world is no longer a nice place to be.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Oh, this is lovely. Maybe the squirrel think for that time hehe. It's so nice seeing them and the squirrel didn't scare the dove either fight with it. Thanks for this.
