Now what would this be?

(Edited)

On the long road, my throat was begging for some coffee.
IMG_2666.jpg

You can see the road in the landscape here below.
IMG_2681.JPG

We saw this "farm stall" at the side of the road and decided to stop for coffee.
IMG_2683.JPG

But this was not a farm stall and it was a pleasant experience to have some coffee here.
IMG_2778.JPG

But hey, the place was filled with people. I was determined to get some coffee and a manager squeezed us in at a small table, as they operate on a table booking system. Very friendly and capable staff.
IMG_2724.JPG

And ooooh! Big glass windows to look out at the scenic countryside.
IMG_2725.JPG

With Nuy Winery being located slightly off the beaten track, we saw the need for a specialist venue closer to the popular R60 route and thus, Nuy on the hill was conceptualised.
The idea was not only to make our product more accessible to the general public and specifically the R60 passerby, but also to match the fine wine experience with a perfect balance of delicious food set in a relaxed atmosphere – building began in 8 June 2015 and the official opening was on 9 December 2015.

Now read the "About" section on this Nuy website and you will be as surprised as we were.

IMG_2728.JPG

We thought that it was another roadside farm stall, but no this turned out to be a real classy and popular restaurant.
IMG_2731.JPG

History of the wine estate on the walls, and you can see some ladies tramping the wine in a big barrel, as that was the old way of extracting the grape juices.
IMG_2710.JPG

Oh, and of course they also had some bottled farm produce on sale. Ever heard of curried peaches?
IMG_2736.JPG

Olives also play a big role in the winelands, as the soil and the temperatures are ideal to grow a range of olives.
IMG_2738.JPG

Now how about some "Lord of the Ring Hot Chilli Relish"?
IMG_2740.JPG

Rows and rows of wine bottles also lined the tasting section.
IMG_2742.JPG

Some awards were also on show.
IMG_2743.JPG

And finally we were back on the long road again.
IMG_2785.JPG

Imagine that, we traveled halfway through the province to end up at another wine estate restaurant. We still had a far way to go, and we also stopped at two other real roadside stalls that I will show you in another post.
But after the coffee that we had here, our engines were fired up again and we traveled along in peace and happiness.
Our destination was the tented camping site in Robertson, and our intention was to use it as a base to explore the surrounding towns and areas.

I hope that you have enjoyed the story and the pictures.

Thank you and on my part, I loved the big glass windows and the views.

The coffee was great and I was so happy to get the permission to take the photos.
We visited two roadside stalls and each had their own countryside character.

Happy weekend also to you.

It takes a lot of work, firstly to own a place like that and secondly to manage it successfully.
