Never seen this before.
Screaming winds were coming in from the Atlantic and we saw a magical result.

I will show you a sunset that will make your head spin.
A lady saw me standing with my camera, and she stopped to open her door she whipped out her camera and she shouted, "Wow, this is apocalyptic". Of course, I agreed with her, and it was also the first time for us to see it. We have had some severe storms here lately and in here you will see why. The weather is untamable, and in here you will see the wind that came in from behind the clouds across the wide-open Atlantic Ocean, was cutting into the sunset clouds lifting them up like a veil.
We saw the dark clouds towards the south at home, and the colors at the west on the sea made us decide to go and have a look.
Yeah, black skies behind the mountain and in the news the next day we saw that tons of rain had fallen in the areas behind the mountain. Some towns had 185mm of rain, creating floods and havoc across the board.
Now, let's look again at the west. Beautiful, isn't it?
The dark line at the bottom of the photo shows the tall building at the beachfront, and it must have been magical for the people in the buildings to watch, as they were much closer.
I really battled to take the photos, as the wind tried to tear my clothes off and send me naked to another country. Lol.
Close up of the mountains below the veil of clouds.
And just to show you how the first picture looked now.
Night started setting in above the clouds, and the sun was almost done.
Time for us to depart, and that's the last shot I took of this amazing event.
I also took some photos that will show you how a fire's heat can draw water down from a low hanging cloud. The rain doused the fire, and I know it sounds unbelievable, but we saw it with our own eyes. Lightning and thunder made us to get out of there. It is not common for lightning shows in these areas and standing alone outside with an electronical thing in my hands, might just get me roasted by a lightning bolt.
I have to say that, lately, the storms are so much more intense, and the weatherman also talked about the increasing changes. Some farmers had their entire apple crops devastated by hailstorms, and they have some severe losses. Then of course, there are also the losses by the people in the low-lying areas, whose houses were all destroyed. This has become such a regular thing, that the government is now planning to move everyone to higher areas above the waterline. Should have done that years ago.
Such is life.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

That is rough for those apple farmers... But what a beautiful site at sunset and you caught such beautiful shots. I love seeing those kind of pictures showing nature in all of it's beauty and fury combined. I recall being in the eye of hurricane Georges in Puerto Rico in 19998, it was so odd as everything was yellow. I've never seen any thing like it before, and sadly it was before the days of smart phones. Then the eye wall slowly approached, perfect calm with utter destruction only a minutes away. The good old days... (or were they?)
In Arizona we use to get these a couple times a year. They are nasty!
I hope you and your wife had a great weekend!

Really apocalyptic!
Nature’s amazing… even after all the damage we cause, it still looks after us—it’s our safe haven.
