Mountain views and changes.

Let me show you what our mountains looked like on this day, and also some changes of the views later in the day.

The morning started like this as the mountains started to rise up from the ground, as they reached for the clouds. We are blessed with a whole mountain range here close to us, and they can be viewed from almost all parts of the town. Of course, by now you know that we love the mountains, and we also love everything that has to do with nature. Proudly they stand guard to protect the town from the weather during the seasons.

We have now passed the Southern hemisphere Autumnal Equinox on the 20th of this month, and soon I will show you some autumn leaves. Things are slowly starting to cool down, and it is such a great relief after the recent severe heatwave. I can tell you that it was hot, much hotter than usual, and people suffered in the heat. Some temperature records were even set across many towns.

I see some members posting their early spring photos in the northern hemisphere, and spring is always a happy season, especially after being snowed under with the bitter cold. All things are thawing out in the spring season, and it is as if magic is in the air with all the new life and colors in nature. While all this is going on, we in the southern hemisphere are preparing to sink into winter, but thankfully our winters are not very cold.

The seasons seem to affect our moods as human beings and the evidence is that we all, or most of us, become grumpy in winter and friendly in summer, but we will always find something to moan about, don't we. It is too cold, or it is too hot, is a regular refrain. I have now seen 70+ winters, and 70+ summers, and still the seasons have an effect on my moods. Strange but true. What makes me happy, is that we now have rainy days ahead, and hopefully all the dams will be filled.
Such is life.

I was playing in a @tarazkp post that had a poem with mountains and soaring cliffs that made me picture your mountains. Imagine that real instant connection between south africa, canada and northern europe!

Anyhow, it seems your winters are not that cold the same as our summers are not that hot. Doesn’t matter though as it is domestically-objective from the perspective of the beholder and the same people who complain about the winter will be doing the same when it is too warm. I don’t begrudge them though as the weather is an easy conversation starter.

Speaking of northern hemisphere, I thought you would get a kick out of seeing the Arctic Swans migrating overhead here headed for the tundra as spring hints its arrival. A little hard to see with a phone camera but you can see their white colour and long necks if you zoom in.

I wonder how they would have described that instant connection in the olden days before the advent of an internet :)
People will be people methinks, as what suits one doesn't suit another. Your winters are extra cold, and our summers are extra hot, just the way that it was meant to be. You are correct about the weather being an easy conversation starter.

We don't have Arctic Swans over here, and they are beautiful birds.

Beautiful pictures! By the palm tree I can see I'm guessing it never gets all that horribly cold there in winter. That's a good thing! 70+ summers and winters... That's quite a few. You've probably had a chance to see just about all of the best and worst mother nature has to offer!
