Free-hand moon shots and landscapes.

This took a one kilometer walk towards the left of the signal hill, in order to get the rising moon behind the signal towers on top of the mountain.

I see a good moon rising as a wordplay on the song Bad moon Rising, by the band Creedence Clearwater Revival.

The only bad thing about this is that I had a very long walk to get in the right place with a bone on bone left knee. If that's not bad enough, then try cramps in the calf of the right leg. But fortunately, I am used to pain and it didn't stop me from achieving my target. I spent two years with my left leg in plaster after a bad motorbike accident in the 80s and now, so many years later it's taking its revenge on my body.
But I digress on this important day, as I watched the moon yesterday and knew exactly where I would get it today.

Such a pity that it's not a full moon, as we will be clouded over when the full moon arrives.

Here below are some landscape shots that I took while waiting for the moon to get into the right place for the signal tower shots.

I parked the car, so that we could watch the mountain for the moonrise, and I was in the car on the phone with my daughter in the UK when the moon started to show itself. So, I left my wife to conclude the conversation, as I hurried on my way to get the moon on the towers.

And this was when I had to make speed, as that was one fast rising moon, so I had to hobble along to get into the right position.

For the moon to rise into the exact spot took a bit of a wait, but patience always delivers the rewards. Not one day is the same here, as there is always something going on and I just take each day as it comes.
Always in hope, as hope is my real strength and it has always carried me through, especially in the dark moments when I am in real trouble. We often forget the saying that tomorrow the sun will shine again, as the bad experiences that we all have, are only temporary as all things will pass.
Such is life.

I pray that you get relief. I know all too well, with regards to medical expenses. I'm dodging a required dentist visit for the same reason.. hopefully I'll get there in due course. I'm certainly not a medical expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I wonder if some kind of bone/cartilage supplement may possibly help somehow? Maybe worth asking a doc? Keep well my dear friend - look after yourself.

Thank you and you are right, as medical expenses can bankrupt one these days. I hope that you will get the dentist issue sorted out and it cannot be much fun.
I have had several inventions over the years, arthroscopy and such, but there is nothing more that they can do, Except the advice to get a knee replacement.

!LOLZ imagine a ball rolling up the mountain and not down the mountain 😮

Btw. This new Supermoon will be the closer to earth than normal and a bonus is that one can also see Saturn near the moon.
So you see why I am crying about the cloud here tomorrow night. Maybe you can get your Telephoto lens out and get some shots of the moon tomorrow night 😉

Here we have best weather again, but I will go earlier to bed than usual, because we want to get up at about 3:30am and meet with our friends an hour later. Driving to our destination will take 6-7 hours.

Great, so the weather will be good for travel. We also leave very early when we go on long trips.

Hihi, yesterday I've been photographing in the morning and later I didn't even go to the beach - too busy, too boring, too hot 😅 !LOLZ

I have been surprised myself that the photos came out quite nice, because usually it doesn't take good images in low light situations.

I am not sure if I will go to the beach again, maybe on Thursday or Friday before we leave.

I prefer to explore this little island called Pag. Yesterday I've been to the most northern point of the island with my son, and this morning I hiked up to the highest mountain which is 349 meters high ... the smallest mountain I ever have been 😂 !LOLZ , but the view up there was magnificent 😀

Yep, it's more a hill, but still a hike of over an hour 😅

At the moment I'm on the beach a bit away from camp. It's quiet and dark. I can only hear the waves - I love it here in the morning, but there are still no clouds in the sky, so I might again shoot long exposures of the rocks in the water. I'll show you the images when I have processed them at home ... if they are any good 😉

Oh, I forgot to explain the "net": it's just a rope with small buoys that marks the end of the safe bathing / swimming zone - I haven't heard of shark attacks in the Mediterranean Sea yet 😁

Oh okay, our buoys all have strong nets dangling below them and in my younger days, we used to swim out to grab unto a buoy for a breather, before we swam back to shore. So, the Mediterranean Sea. is shark less. That means that you can swim out to the rope and your son can keep an eye on you with the drone?
Sounds like a good plan methinks 😄 !LOLZ

If I ever go for a swim, I don't swim that far. I hate it when I can't see the ground below me, and I'm afraid of the octopuses 😂 !LOLZ

I have been on another hike in the late afternoon with my son, but it was too windy to fly the drone. Even photography was hard to to in this string wind.

Later in the evening we've had a delicious pizza and then a very good sleep 😴

When you come to visit us here, I wall take you shark cage hunting as I hear that the great white killer whales come right up to the cage under the water. No emojis but a !LOLZ will do.

Hahaha, that's why I think that the octos don't like you and pretty please, don't go into the water. Thank goodness that you don't eat shark, as they will get to hear about it.

Amazing that you have the same winds like us and yes, a drone cannot fly in it. The best that I can do is to take photos facing the wind and the birds taught me that, as when a group sits on the top of a tree, they all face the wind.

There's no way to get me in such a cage. I have seen videos where a shark has destroyed the cage 🦈😱 !LOLZ

I can honesty say that I have been at the sea for one week, but haven't been in the water once 😂 but I have done a lot of walking and hiking, just like I would have done at home 😁

Later we went on a long walk to the next village, had a drink and walked back. I the evening we were at a restaurant with "all you can eat" option... delicious 😋 but too much 🫄
And after eating, my son and I went to the beach to shoot the Milky-Way. But there was too much light pollution and we have to learn a lot more of how to shoot astro photos.

At the moment we are packing our things, cleaning the mobile home and at about noon we'll leave towards home.

Very wise I would say and at least even though yu did the normal things, all of the sights were different.

I don't like that "all that you can eat" restaurants, as one's eyes are bigger than one's stomach and too many of the this and that and that and that creates havoc in the stomach :)
Glad that you could still walk after gorging at the restaurant and astro photos are a totally different game. Remember my night shots of the giant fruit bats? A real struggle to take photos at night, what still the milky-way.

Wow! Time flies, as it feels like you went yesterday. By now you will hopefully be back home and maybe already in bed.

When we are in such a "all you can eat" restaurant we always take only a little bit of of the food that looks good and if we like it, we take more. Well, in that restaurant everything was so very delicious that I couldn't even taste everything before I was full 😋 !LOLZ

The Milky-way photos didn't turn out good. My lenses are for landscape photography (f/4.0), but not for taking photos of stars. My son's lenses are better (f/1.8) and I'm curious on his photos.

Yep, I'm still off work and after a day in the office tomorrow I'll leave towards the lake Traunsee in Upper Austria where I'll have the training I've told you before. Hopefully it will not be too boring.

We've come back late in the evening on Friday and yesterday was more or less a relaxing day at home. The nights and mornings have become quite cold - Autumn is on the doorsteps. At the moment it's about 16C outside.

Apart from the long exposure images like this one

I have taken only a few "normal" landscape photos like this one from that small mountain

and this one from a little light house to which I hiked with my son

I remember our first visit to such a place and man, I took a bit of everything, as my eyes were bigger than my stomach. My plate was heaped with food and I ate it all. Not even place in my stomach for deserts. That night I couldn't sleep and I felt terrible the next day. That was our first and last visit to such a place, as now we avoid them totally :) !LOLZ

Thanks, it is an old church from WW1, but I think it was also used for soldiers.
They still use it as a church from time to time, I believe.

Street people? Sadly, here the restaurants have to throw the leftover food away, and at holiday destinations there are no people living on the streets anyway.

I need to convince my son that shooting landscapes is much more interesting than the sports cars he likes to photograph.

It's only one small room, and I'm afraid that if you go inside this ruin a brick stone might fall down on you 🫣

Lucky you, as here we have thousands that live on the streets. We have a project that I want to launch to feed them, but I am still working on the finer details. In a nutshell, it will be a van that loads food every day and then to stop at designated places where the poor people can come and collect food parcels.

I Think that you guys have done more than enough and it already shows in your children.
Maybe Lea should look for a more solid job, as my step-daughter was a waitress until she found a permanent job as a receptionist at an animal doctor's business. That paid for her studies and after she graduated, she went to the UK for a year. She found a job there and they kept her there for 7 years.
I know that your Lea is a good girl, as she takes after her mother :)

At the moment my daughter is very happy with her situation and most of her friends work also in this pub. She has always been good at school and certainly has deserved a year off. Actually, I think if she would find a job like your step daughter, I think she'd live it - she loves animals 😊

Great and to be honest I don't like the pub idea so much. Now don't get me wrong, as I am worried about her safety, as some scaly clients can visit and then there could be trouble. But you and I know children and she must do what she loves to do. Btw. my daughter met her husband in a pub and it turned out that he is a great guy 😉 !LOLZ

Kids can get reckless for some or other reason and a mistake can happen in a second. I have seen it and it also happened to me in my younger days. So that walking alone at night worries me. Maybe she can get her closest friend to walk with her at night, as then all will be good 😉

Yep, it would be great if she didn't have to walk home alone, but sometimes she's the last one in the pub and locks it before she goes home. Sometimes one of her friends accompanies her, of course, and she also always has a pepper spray with her.

An electric scooter would be a great idea, but she's lifting on the 4th floor, there's no elevator and these things are quite heavy. Leaving it down at the entrance is no option, because it will be gone within a short time.

I have tested my wife for 10 years before I bought married her ... or maybe she has tested me 🤣 !LOLZ and my daughter is certainly doing the same 😉

Problems to be solved in waiting methinks. If there is a police station near her, she could leave the scooter there overnight? The walking even with pepper spray is not a good idea.

Oh yes, I agree as it is almost like a movie to see the constant color changes 😀

Sadly a 93 year old lady lost her life when a huge wave grabbed and sucked her back into the sea. I still cannot believe the size of those waves. Even sadder is that 7 of our army marines were washed off the top of a submarine by a big wave. The emergency crew could save 4 and 3 died.
Such is life.

No more Twitter, as now called X and soon everyone will have to pay to use it. Some are already paying for what they call "Blue Status" 😞

Crazy things going on here. 3 police officers manned a road block to search cars and as they stopped the one car, the guys inside the car started shooting at the cops. One dead and the other two wounded. They stole the guns of the officers and then raced off in their car.

Never will you see a blue cent from X, unless Musk starts a centralized token. I know that he is up to something, as everything that he touches make huge profits. But not for us 😞 !LOLZ

Police should be incorruptible and fair - it's not even near as bad here, but fairness against our "customers" is a word most of the young officers don't know.

Do you remember that the banks and all of the privately owned financial institutions sent out the news that crypto is a bubble that will soon pop. Some even made out that crypto is a cult and a Ponzi scheme.
Well now all of the banks are developing their own crypto coins and the big financial institutions like Black Rock are investing big money into crypto.
So maybe soon Hive might moon, or maybe not 😉 !LOLZ

Yeah, it seems to be a world wide problem, as kids try to follow the things that they see on the internet.
We are working with poor schoolgirls in a mentoring program and all that I can say is that some of them have bad times at home.

Hope is the best thing that we have 🙏

Yes, you are right and another big problem is the wrong friends. Kids want to feel accepted and some will do anything to become popular. This is when they are ready for the drug trade and one sniff of the rubbish makes them hooked. One can find bad parents in both the rich and the poor families my friend.

I agree and we see it here every day. Another concern is the destruction of families. as first the husband disappears, then the children start to leave and in the end there is nothing left.

Hi Nina,

thank you so much that you like the image. The evening didn't look like there would be a colourful sunset, so I left the big camera at home.

These colours lasted only for a few minutes and I am happy that my phone did a better job than I expected, because my quite old Xiaomi phone usually has problems in low light situations.

Yeah, rare to have two full moons in the same month. And Tomorrow night's moon will be the closest to earth of the Supermoons with Saturn also visible close to the moon.
We are now clouded over and it will rain until next week, so I can't get the moon, but maybe you can my friend.
