By still waters.

The fountains were off, and I searched in the water for life.

Normally the four fountains in the corners of the large square water are on, and then water ripples make photography difficult to get something swimming on camera.

By now you might know that we were at the famous Lourensford Wine Estate, as I have shared many posts about the birds and wildlife that we found on the farm. Today however I had a nice surprise, as somebody has donated fish to the water pond. Not any fish, as they are goldfish, and one might even be a small Koi. I started the search in the shady side, but found nothing, not even expecting to find any fish, as the kingfishers cleared the last lot out, but today I got lucky, as in the far sunny side I found them.
Come and have a look.

Four of these meditating ladies appear in each of the four quarters of the water channels, and I wonder if each of the ladies didn't use the fish to pass messages on to each other. The 4 ladies look identical, and I think that they were all born on the same day, by their happy mother :)
The problem is that all 4 of the ladies like the same guy, and one can only wonder what kind of messages they were passing on to each other Lol.

This one below might be the Koi Fish that I am talking about. Still small and one can only hope that the giant kingfishers that visit here don't get it.

Finally, this is the look from the opposite corner of the scene.

Yes, we like to come here on weekdays, and we know how to time our visits to fall outside of the times when hordes of noisy tourists are strolling around. Huge touring buses arrive mainly from the Cape Town city, and they are packed with international tourists that visit the Cape wine route. There are many wine farms on the route, and most of the farms have wine tasting and restaurants on their premises. I think if one has a taste of wine at every farm on the route, then one would be either very happy, or paralytic at the end of the tour :))
Such is life.

I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

It's nice to see goldfish living in freedom :) Too many of them end up in little bowls. Probably a worse fate than the kingfishers.

Yep, If we had that choice, I would also prefer the kingfisher option.

Even in the sun, such scenes are more beautiful and a joy to behold.
