And here is the sunset...

...that I promised to share in one of my recent posts.

A real winter sunset, and our African sunsets are all beautiful in any season.

Still cold here almost every day, but thankfully one more month then spring season will arrive. Maybe a bit earlier, as there are already fruit trees that are starting to blossom. And, I saw the first Jasmine blossoms today, which used to only come at the beginning of September. We don't mind the cold, but at night things can get a bit difficult as we don't use any heaters, and when one gets into an ice cold bed, then it takes a while for things to start warming up. But as usual, I am not complaining.

You can see the sun below starting to drop behind Cape Town's Table Mountain.

Then the sun disappeared behind the mountain.

In the meantime, a flock of seagulls were changing the lead on their way home.

Finally the sun was done, and I waited a while to see the final effect.

This was the view from a road on our way home.

Here are two photos below of the view around the corner from our home.

Finally, a shot of the moon on the day.

A lovely sight, and whenever I watch a sunset, a sense of closure rests in my mind in acceptance that the day is over. In life some days can be good, and other days can be bad, but thankfully there is always a new day in the morrow. Same old, same old is not in our vocabulary, as we try our best to make every new day special, especially as my health is starting to fade just like the sunsets fade. But that is diagnosed as ageing.

Ageing and death are part of life, and wait for everyone. They are the equalizers. So, we must embrace them and be prepared for them and for the life to come. We cannot live with unthankful, discontent, and unhappy hearts. May our hearts, instead, be lifted up and filled with hope and gratefulness for the breath and life we have when we awake with each new day's sunrise, until we reach our final sunset.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Now that is a golden and thoughtful sunset! You captured it perfectly and it is definitely worth a post of its own!

Here is a recent sunset in hazy corn country and my thoughts on fading light and health. I will enjoy my evening as it grows long but will fight that horizon with all my spirit and passion!
