An early start...

...with some thrilling views, and so, come and see what I have to share.
002.jpg

The day started off with two morning moon shots, and then a surprise, and also some mousebirds.

Life just seems to run away with us lately. So much to do can suddenly stop, and then we don't know what to do with ourselves. It has become a habit to stay busy, but the busyness can become a burden to bear on one's back. Roller coaster stuff, and then all of a sudden everything seems to be sorted out, and an emptiness starts to set in. What we have learned from all of this, is to stay calm, as the danger is to go out and to force busyness, that invariable turns into troubles. Does this make sense to you?

Now what was this? We were on our way to replenish my tablet stocks, and this lovely oldie stopped in front of us.
013.JPG

It turned in the same direction that we were going.
014.JPG

I could see that this oldie was in an excellent condition, and I wonder how many modern cars will still be around for 40 or 60 years later.
016.JPG

Sadly, our turnoff to the hospital appeared, and I had to leave it at that. I so wanted to get a front view of it, as it was beautiful and one can see that the owner keeps the car in a tip-top condition.

Let me show you some White-backed Mousebirds (Colius colius).

After getting the tablets, we stopped to have some coffee at a coffee shop, and the sound of a mousebird in a tree drew my attention. It turned out that it was not a mousebird, but rather a pair of mousebirds.

Something special about these birds, is that they fall into an endemic African order. They clamber around in vegetation, and sun their bellies after feeding to accelerate digestion. They roost huddled to conserve heat.
Words taken from our bird book: Birds of Southern Africa. ISBN: 978-1-77584-668-0

Now, after you have eaten take a tip from the mousebirds and run outside to get the sun on your bellies to help with the digestion. Lol.

I don't think they could see us sitting at the table in the open while they were at the top of a tree across the road.
021.JPG

And finally, I caught the one in flight as they crossed over.

I always have my camera at my side, and on this day, it proved its worth as there are certainly a variety of views in this post that are unrelated. Although they are different, all of them are beautiful, and that is what makes me happy. I love to share everything that I see, in my blog and many times I get something special, or unusual to show such as on this day. Nature also always offers us abundant views, and we regard nature as our safe place.
Such is life.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Sure does, and a first for me :)
I used to do 2 posts every day long ago, but now I find that only one good post works just as well.

excellent photos of the moon and the mousebirds, truly having the camera always ready is worth gold to capture those nature moments right now.
the fact about the birds warming their bellies in the sun for digestion made me laugh, i'll have to follow that advice for real. thanks for sharing your "safe place" with us. much success.

Thank you, and yes, I always have the camera ready for action.
Just don't blame me if you sit with your belly in the sun, and it starts getting blisters Lol.

Wow more fancy and exotic birds! They seem so judgemental looking down on you from that bush ;)

No moon in the sky today for us but some sun through the morning clouds promising some warmth today.

So great to slow and enjoy our busy lives with that camera and the blockchain!

For a long time, I thought that I wouldn't get that specific bird species on camera, as the bird map shows that are not present in our province. I have photos of all the other mousebird species, and so I think that you can guess how glad I was to get these on camera.

A real nice picture that you have here :)

Works wonders for me as it keeps me calm and collected.

What great shots of the moon on this double publish accident. Just to think in a few short years people will be living on the moon...

I love those old cars, whenever there are local shows I try to get out and see them. It's couple years since I've done so, I've have to see if there are any coming this summer

That is a really cool bird, sunning it's belly to aid digestion. White-backed Mousebirds, what a unique bird! They are pretty as well, very interesting to learn about them, thanks!

I hope things go well tomorrow, another bright day with a lot of sun I hope!

Thank you, and I see that the Artemis ll capsule landed successfully this morning. What a trip that must be, and we are glad that everyone was safe.

Glad that I could stimulate your interest in old cars, and we have many of them still on the roads. Hope that you will also go to see some.

Great birds, and don't follow my advice to go and sit in the sun with an open stomach to aid your digestion. Lol

All cast over with clouds today.

In the circle of photographers of sky objects in my country to which I belong, it is rare who photographs the moon during the day, which is a pity because it also looks beautiful on a blue background.

We are at the southern tip of the African continent, and I think that's why you guys do not get the moon in daylight.

That's not exactly how it works. The moon is also visible during the day in Europe. For example, today the moon rise took place at 4:50 in the morning and the sunset in the late afternoon, so it is not visible at night today. There are days when you can only see it at night, but also those where it is visible mainly during the day. It's probably the same in Africa?
